Icon40 Pascal Dupuis Out At Least 6 Months With Blood Clot

Pittsburgh Penguins forward Pascal Dupuis has been diagnosed with a blood clot in his lung and will be out of the lineup for at least six months while undergoing treatment with blood thinners.
Poor guy just can't stay healthy lately.

I swear, this team doesn't just have normal injury announcements anymore. Strokes, cancer, blood clots...what the heck is going on?

Very strange, amongst a group of seemingly hale and hearty young men.

I wish the guy the best but I wonder if this precludes a trade. With the Flames all of a sudden having depth up front, does Glencross become expendable? I've always seen him as a guy who would fit on the pens and they have a lot of young defensemen that would be an improvement to what we have.

Was he riding shotgun with Sid or was that Hornqvist? I wonder who goes up there with Kunitz and Crosby now?

I am pretty sure the top line is Kunitz - Crosby - Hornqvist, I believe Dupuis was playing with Malkin and Bennett.

it's been like that most of the season, but in the last few games Dupuis was with Crosby and Kunitz again. Their most frequent line combinations over the last 3 games were

CHRIS KUNITZ - SIDNEY CROSBY - PASCAL DUPUIS
PATRIC HORNQVIST - NICK SPALING - EVGENI MALKIN
STEVE DOWNIE - BRANDON SUTTER - BEAU BENNETT

I remember how Pittsburgh was mocked for the Hossa trade and giving up too much. Pascal Dupuis was the second best guy in that trade and is still with the Penguins. Too bad for him, he has played well for the Penguins when he's healthy.

That's quite serious.

Hopefully the blood thinners do the trick and he can return to playing hockey.

What are the chances that 3 very fit young extremely active men would get blood clots (assuming Letang's stroke was thrombotic)? Can't be very high.

Blake Comeau has been getting top 6 icetime most of the season.

He was playing with Dupuis/Malkin before getting injured and right now is slotted with Kunitz/Crosby.

Probably a lot higher if blood doping is involved.

Something that should probably garner more attention.

Very low unless they have some heritable blood disorder (or are blood doping, apparently).
