Few interesting things happening.
The Avs continue to suck in their own zone. Watched most of their 2nd period against the Rangers and they are just terrible defensively. Sakic should be looking for whatever depth he can get on the blue line, because this current crop are just awful.
In the Sabres-Wild game, Darcy Kuemper was on the ice for 6:24 of the 1st, gave up 2 goals from 2 shots and got pulled for Backstrom. How often does that happen? A goalie with a .000 SV%. 3 goals in 17 seconds in that game too.

Makes you wonder if the Avs wouldn't have been farther ahead trading down a spot or two and drafting Jones.

Dunno, don't think you could have ever passed on MacKinnon.

Yeah, they made the right pick. What they should have done is move Statsny early in that offseason for defensive help as it seemed he was gone as soon as they picked MacKinnon anyway.

Winnipeg Jets win 3-1 over the Carolina Hurricanes. Complete and total domination from start to finish. Looks like my dream of a Jets-Flames playoff series isn't looking like a pipe dream this year.

Rob Tychkowski @Sun_Tychkowski
Senators are swarming the Oilers. I'm talking good swarm, not the defensive one that doesn't work.

This was an Eakins quote from earlier today:
Quote:
“Our start tonight will be very important. If we can’t get our legs under us quickly, it’s going to be a hard night just to get into the flow,” said head coach Dallas Eakins. “We want to get this home stand off on the right foot.”

The Rangers are inconsistent as they lose to the Avalanche 4-3 in the shootout.
The Habs win 5-1 over the Bruins. It was 1-0 Boston after one period and then it went down hill from there. Weise scored on a penalty shot and from then on, the Habs dominated the rest of the game.

That'd be a pretty fantastic Canadian matchup. Lots of hockey to come first though of course. I'm slowly letting myself get more and more excited about this team, but, I'll hold off on putting on my white jersey for the post season until there's a bigger sample size. Maybe 40 games in.
