wow his numbers in Montreal are not pretty. He managed 21 goals in 141 games for them ... in Calgary, he managed three 20+ seasons including two seasons with 27 goals. Given that his numbers have decreased every season and he still has another year at 3.33m, I highly doubt that someone will take a flyer on him. Have fun on the bus, Rene ...
Bourque was sent to Montreal with prospect Patrick Holland and a second round draft pick on January 12 2012 in exchange for Michael Cammalleri, Karri Rämö and a fifth round draft pick.
He's been terrible in Montreal. Got hot in the playoffs but even then he could have had double the goals if he could have barried the majority of his chances. Habs fans were calling for him to be in the press box since about game 3 of the season
I am a little surprised by this despite the fact that he hasn't been producing a lot. Montreal is doing fairly well and doesn't necessarily need the cap space. Is there someone on their farm banging on the door or something?

Interesting deal to look back on.
the 5th rounder became Ryan Culkin
the 2nd rounder became Zachary Fucale
we'll see how Fucale develops, but at this point, it's a big win for Calgary and it's not even close. Cammalleri outplayed Bourque by a wide margin, Ramo has become a solid 1B option and the Habs have already given up on Holland (traded him to Winnipeg before the season).

Sending a player to the minors gives very little cap space relief anymore.
id be willing to bet that someone picks up Bourque or trades for him in the near future and his career gets a kickstart once he leaves Montreal. He has never seemed comfortable there and a change of scenery could do him good. As I said above, he would fit well into Edmonton's top 9, but they won't make the move (which is good).
