Default Kris Russell Discussion

Over the last season and the start of this season we have seen Kris Russell develop into a solid part of the Flames Defense.

At what point do we let Brodie carry Wideman's play instead and give Russell the opportunity to be mentored by Giordano. Would it benefit Russell to play with Giordano?

What is Kris Russells actual ceiling, because he hass already surpassed what we all probably expect.

Leave things the way they are. Splitting Brodie and Giordano is silly. Russell doesn't need mentoring from Gio. He and Wideman (save tonight) have been really good for like 10 games

Hartley switched em up in the second period of tonights game.

I dont think you should try to fix whats not broken but really right now there no harm no foul as all four players have been great.

Keep Brodano together and look for a defenseman that's an upgrade on Wideman.

I feel like Brodie is strong enough to play his game without Giordano. In fact Brodie has probably surpassed Giordano as a PMD.

Russell has proven that he can be a #3 defensemen on a playoff bubble team. Whose to say he couldnt hit the next level playing with a top 30 defensemen like Giordano

Russell is showing tonight that on a good team is at best a number 5, preferably a 6.

Was thinking that myself. If we want to be a true contender and not just making up the numbers in the play offs, he needs to be a 3rd pairing guy at best. A good player and I like his game, but he isn't a 2nd pairing d-man on a top team.

A discussion on Russell, seriously
Guy plays his tail off so he had a rough night 1 out of the last 15, he will bounce back.

No, take a look at a contenders d-core. Russell would be a 5 or 6.

So you think Russell is a top 4 on every NHL team?

Or more specifically a number 3, like the original post says.

There is nothing wrong with the Flames top 4. It's that awful third pairing that gets worked over even while facing sheltered completion that could really use upgrading. But seen as how they make big dollars and have term that won't be changing anytime soon.
