Ramo injured in practice
Extent unknown - just happened.
Quote:
#Flames G Karri Ramo in some obvious pain after stretching out to stop one-timer in practice. That was last shot he faced. Just left ice.

All indications are #Flames G Karri Ramo is/was going to get start tomorrow. Would be awful timing if he was injured on practice play.

That sounds worrisome. Hopefully he just tweaked it.

Yikes!
I hope he's OK. Ortio's numbers in the AHL have looked horrible, I don't think he's ready for the NHL just yet.

Ramo exists. Move along.

We should have traded him while he was hot, what terrible asset management.

While I'm sorry hear that Ramo is injured, I would like to see Hiller stay in, as he has proven to me that he should be our number one goalie, and shouldn't be taken out because of our loss last night.

#Flames Head Coach Bob Hartley confirms that goaltender Karri Ramo, who left practice early, is okay and will start vs. #Panthers tomorrow.

Based on our last game, they're obviously working on breakaways, and more specifically, two-on-none drills.
Apparently you can't just knock over the net anymore...

Like the Sharks did with Kipper?
Like the Leafs did with Rask?
I think declaring Hiller our starter for the next 5 years based on less than a quarter of a season and then dealing our second best, younger goaltending asset is terrible asset management.

I don't think a change in net would be done as punishment to Hiller for the loss - he was just fine in net. However, Ramo needs to get some work, Hartley won't be accused of switching in a Hiller winning streak and Fla is as good a team as any to go with a backup. They are 30th in goals for.

Great post. Obviously doesn't remember the first 20 games of the season Roman Turek put up for the Flames before they inked him long term. that worked out well.

Yeah that seemed fairly obvious. Didn't even need green text. Same thing seems to happen when people remark sarcastically about Sven and it starts a heated argument.

I don't agree with this at all, why ride Hiller and not give him a rest? The competition is there for a reason. Ramo hasn't sucked at all while he has been playing. Hiller has had a few bad breaks but he hasn't been as good the last few games. He needs a break, we have spent too many years watching our #1 get 70 starts a season, it's not ideal.

Pretty clear that Hartley is going to be alternating goalies as they get hot and cold all year. Wouldn't that incentivize them to play "not to make a mistake", as opposed to playing loose? Like when Backlund was saying that he was playing not to make a mistake, as opposed to going out and making plays when asked what has attributed to his great play last year.
I honestly have no idea...goalies are so weird I can't even begin to come up with an answer.

Hiller's not cold. He played well. But he's just had 5 games in a row (starting with a loss). We don't want to wear him out.
Ramo needs a start. When do you suggest he gets one?

This isn't a new strategy. I think Page did the same with our two goalies in the 90s. Can't really say it was a great success though.
