Default QOTD: Granlund's 2nd Trip up

Funny looking back in Flames history. As a fan you never know when that moment happens for a player where a call up isn't a 3 or 5 game stint, but that point where he never goes back.

Granlund last year had a solid 7 game stint with 2 goals and 3 points before getting hurt and scuttling his season.

What happens this time around?

Granlund finally makes the final Grandlunge for a roster spot, and earns one in Grand fashion.

I think that he'll progress nicely this season, however, I believe he goes back down when Stajan is healthy. Does anyone here that watches the baby flames know if he got stronger this year?

I would love for it to be permanent, but he will go down when Stajan is healthy.

He's here to stay - I don't think we'll see the team as 100% healthy between now and the trade deadline. I think Glencross + McGrattan get moved that day, which removes pressure that may have forced Granlund back down to the farm.

Here to stay on the basis that the chances of the flames being healthy between now and the trade deadline are slim and none of the other Addy flames centres are looking good enough to supplant him.

Depends on how he plays I suppose, but I think he is ready. I don't think he is going to be a regular top 6, but he strikes of the type of player that can play in the bottom 6 and be relatively productive.

I voted until Stajan comes back. Probably Colborne and Raymond will be back first but they'll be put on the wing at the expense of Setoguchi and Jooris.
When Stajan and everybody is healthy, probably Granlund gets sent down to get playing time. Next season he stays up though.

The other scenario, Stajan returns on the 4th line. Colborne returns on the wing leaving the third line centre spot for Granlund.

I'm torn between here until Stajan returns or staying up.

He's likely NHL ready, just kind of depends how the cards fall.

He, Ferland and Wotherspoon are the three players that are most ready to be NHLers.

I think Granlund will stay until Stajan is ready, at which point he'll be called back up when bodies are shipped out and stay on a permanent basis.

I think we'll see Stajan Colborne and Granny all up at the same time.

He stays IF he can stay healthy this year for at least 30-40 games. I honestly believe he would have carved himself out a permanent roster spot last year if not for the injury...

With the injury to Stajan Granlund, is going to be given an extended chance to prove he has what it takes to stay with the Flames. If he does prove his worth it might make make Stajan trade bait at the deadline.

I think he has a chance at staying and developing into a 3rd line center or winger that can put up 20 goals and 40-45 points.

I voted that he'll stay until Stajan is back. However, if he plays as well as Johnny, I could see management making a move with someone to make room for him. That's at least what Treliving has previously said. We've already experienced injuries in this season, so I wouldn't be surprised if another roster forward was injured by the time Stajan comes back. I think we'll be seeing a lot of Granlund, so this is very exciting.

I went with here for good. In all likelihood by the time Stajan comes back someone else (David Jones) will be hurt.

Here to stay.

Just so you know, I am a little drunk. Which is weird because my response would probably be the same if I were stone cold sober.

Granlund is here to stay. He will leave the Flames no choice but to move someone else.

Hard to say. If he plays well and Hartley and the Flames front office are finally willing to admit to themselves that Joe Colborne is a winger not a center then he's here until Stajan comes back... if they're not then he's back down when Colborne is back.

Hopefully he will thrive. I think when Stajan gets back they will have to make a call on how well he has done and move on from there. The trade deadline is gonna be interesting later this year...
