He wants to be able to record for potentially up to 30 days and then review/delete as needed. He has a spare computer that could record video, but I'm not sure that is the best option. There is not a wireless network in the building, but I expect one could set up an old router to send signal, if this is helpful, but wiring is in place that could facilitate connecting the camera to a DVR/computer.
What is the easies/most economical way to accomplish this?
How big must the hard drive be to record that much video.
Is it even feasible to record that length of video and review it in a reasonable amount of time?
Thanks for any thoughts/ideas you may have.

What he's looking for is doable. The issue I've ran into looking into this kind of thing is a happy medium between useable video quality and HD size. With the price of HDD's these days, you could get enough connected to the system to record 30 days but you'll be pushing it.
As far as reviewing the footage, most systems will mark "events" like someone walking in front of the camera so you can just scan through quickly to find what you are looking for.
The downside to most of those systems is they are not designed to work outdoors in our cold. Some are so make sure you look at the operational temperature limits when buying.
