Icon25 Avalanche Rebuild Continues

The Avalanche have been busy rebuilding and have made a few deals to work towards the future.

To Colorado:
Alex Burrows
2016 1st (OTT)

To Ottawa:
Milan Michalek

Michalek wasn't in the future plans so turning him into a 1st round pick and some temporary help now was an ideal move.

To Colorado:
Ryan Malone
2015 2nd (NAS)

To Nashville:
Sergei Gonchar
Matthew Lombardi

Again, this deal breaks down to Gonchar for a 2nd. 39 year old Gonchar was certainly not in the long term plans.

To Colorado:
Stephen Weiss
2015 2nd (VAN)

To Vancouver:
Zack Smith
2015 4th (COL)

Another trade to bring in a pick for the future.

To Colorado:
2015 1st (BUF)
2016 2nd (BUF)
Peter Harrold

To Buffalo
Tyler Bozak

Bozak was a really hard player to move. He put up the numbers in the NHL but nobody really values him. This move was to bring in another high end pick in a good draft.

There are quite a few talks ongoing and should hopefully have a few more trades within the next few days.

Rebuild? That roster looks better than the old one!

Seriously though, good job on all the deals. I think it's a good idea in a deep draft year.

few more trades done this weekend.

To Tampa Bay:
Micheal Frolik

To Colorado:
Nathan Horton
Kerby Rychel
2015 3rd (TB)

Another move to bring in another 1st round prospect. Not sure what to make of Rychel but could see him being a bottom 6 NHLer.

To Colorado:
Chris Krieder
Radek Faksa

To Dallas:
David Perron

Perron is finally traded. Was one of my first trades in the CPHL to bring in Perron. With this trade I feel Kreider can be equal if not better then Perron in the long run and adding another 1st round prospect in Faksa is the cherry on top.

More deals to come.

Tampa was interested in making this deal given Hortons history of injury. If Frolik gets his head on straight it could be a dynamic player. Thanks for the discussions Pat.

A few more trades as the rebuild continues.

To New York Islanders:
Trevor 'Stamkos Who?' Smith
Adam Pardy

To Colorado:
Grant Clitsome
2016 4th

This deal was done to bring in some cheese space. Pardy and Clitsome are a wash and Trevor Smith is likely worth a 4th round pick.

To Winnipeg:
Nathan Horton
Zach Sanford
2015 3rd

To Colorado:
Bryan Bickell
Vladislav Namestnikov

This deal was done to bring in another former 1st round pick. He put up some really good numbers in the AHL and is putting up some decent numbers in the NHL. The NHL Lightning are pretty stacked in young forward talent but I could see a situation where they trade him at the deadline to bring in some vets. Hopefully at least.

Thanks Curtis and Aaron for the deals.

Like the Horton dump. Good Russian kid coming back. Only good deal in this thread. Also, you got ripped off by a smarter and better looking GM in the Perron deal.
