Default Coax signal boosters

Currently I'm running 80' of coax cable back to a 10dB splitter/amplifier. The signal is still much choppier than I'd prefer. Does anyone know if and where I could buy a 32dB+ signal booster? Only needs 1 port. Thanks for the help!

32dB sounds like an insane amount of boost. What are you trying to boost that you need such a big amplifier?

I have one of those amplifiers a shaw tech put in that feeds a 12 splitter? that then feeds all my devices and that has been more than plenty. They did that all for free for me so maybe they're your best bet? Have you tried something like the source?

You don't want to do that. The amps that you can get that'll boost it that much will introduce an insane amount of noise to the line rendering most the signals unusable. Also if the cable is being used for something like a DOCSIS modem i.e. internet, the signal will be useless anyways if you do not buy an amp to boost the signal both ways. I'd recommend you get a proper install with a technician out there who'll do the proper line amp boosts or just give you a new cable drop at whereever you need.

Another thing is always boost pre split if possible.

What I'm trying to do is overcome a line loss that is supplying a new TV feed to my detached garage. I have an underground conduit that runs directly to the garage in which my coax is ran. I didn't think I would have a strong enough signal to utilize a wireless receiver, hence the conduit. There's nothing else in that line, but would I be better off running another type of line like cat6 if that's possible? And I do have a strong background in electrical but have never really dabbled into the data side before.

I did check at future shop as well, they only had a 10dB splitter. I'll try boosting it pre split tomorrow!

So you have a coax line from your house to your garage which you want to amp? What are you putting in there? If it's just a tv you should be fine. And if you have big loss, you may have more problems like crappy coax, a split in the line etc.

I've seen some of the splitters and cables you can buy at futureshop compared to the ones the tech's installed and it's not even close. The futureshop ones look so bad. Honestly, if you have a coax line run through it'd probably be better to have your telecom tech's check on your signal and provide you with the proper amplifiers.

get a pro out to look at it, in line amps are very noisy. You probably won't be happy with that either.

I did this at my old house. I was running the analog output from a Bell receiver to the TV in the garage. I picked up a booster from the Source and it did help clean up the signal. However it is important to note that was the only thing it was being used for; and that the signal was analog.

It ended up being a bad connector on one end of the coax feed into the garage, telus tech came out and replaced an old shorty receiver for no charge
