Not sure if you are still adding to this list in a 2nd post, but the Islanders have these guys going onto waivers:

K. Poulin, D. Leggio, H. Zolnierczyk, J. Skille, A. Ness.

Caron is a Center right? I could definitely see the Oilers making a claim on him or another Center this weekend

I wonder if Skille isn't a guy Treliving might claim instead of signing Diaz?

Stupid Blackhawks taking Skille over Kopitar back in 2005. I was literally yelling at them to take Kopitar that night. Now maybe if they had they wouldn't have Kane and/or Toews, but they made a huge mistake that night.

Chiarelli was really high on Warsofsky. Undersized d man but similar to Torey Krug. Is he an upgrade on Diaz? Think he might be one to watch if not with us then someone else.

5'8" tall is pretty small, though.

There as a big article a couple days ago about how much Hartley loves Diaz. I'd say chances are very high Diaz is on our opening day roster.

No question. Listed at 5'9" and 170. Krug 10lbs heavier. But if he can put up Krug type numbers and fill an organization need (mobile pick moving d), why not? Only question is the style of play in west vs east.

Aaron Ness 5'10" 182 lbs) is also on waivers. Similar type game, but same question marks as warsofsky. Could be another name to watch.

This site has him as 5'8'', 2 inches shorter than Kris Russell. I'm not sure we'd want two blueliners that size.

I really thought this would Caron's year to make it in Boston.. maybe Gagne's PTO is what bumped him out.

Not to derail your point, but if you believe Russell is 5'10", I've got a bridge to sell you.

op updated with today's waivers

Lombardi may be of interest to the Oilers

Landon Ferraro is also an interesting name but don't see the Flames having a spot for him

Ellerby and Kostka may be an option for 7th dman

Flames could use D depth, but mostly to bolster AHL. I don't think these guys are better than what Flames already have, especially when Wotherspoon comes back.
