Default GAME 13 : BC Lions at STAMPEDERS

Terrible game last week against a terrible team from the East. Stamps doesn't seem like themselves and not a lot of pressures on QB by Stamps defense. Hopefully the Stamps learned from last week's lost and play much better against BC. The Lions on the hand also lost to an Eastern team Ztoronto Argonauts 40-23.

Stamps faced the Lions in Week 6 without RB Jon Cornish and WR Maurice Price. They lost in a close game 25-24. LB Keon Raymond scored a TD after intercepting Kevin Glenn's pass and had team leading 7 tackles. LB Deron Mayo tied Raymond in leading the team in tackles last time they played BC in Week 6. BC QB Kevin Glenn was 22/32 for 277 yards with 2 TDs and 1 INT vs Calgary. BC LB Solomon Eliminian also had a huge game vs the Stamps recording 10 tackles and 1 special team tackle.

Game Time : Saturday, Sept 26 @ 7:30pm at McMahon Stadium.
Televised on TSN and ESPN3

OFFENSE :

Last week the Stamps had a hardtime generating the offense. QB Drew Tate only passed for 152 yards all game. Tate rarely threw deep last week and his offensive output was very predictable. Throw short passes most of the plays. RB Matt Walter was pretty much the offense Stamps had last week. He rushed for 88 yards and his last touch he fumbled the ball.
QB Bo Levi Mitchell will dress as an emergency backup, while RB Jon Cornish and RB/Returner Jock Sanders will also be back in the lineup. OG Brander Craighead will also suit up tomorrow.

DEFENSE :

Defense picked up the wrong time to play awful. In the last 3 games, defense gave up more 30 points per game. Defensive Line is the group that got hit the most with injuries. They already lost DT Micah Johnson and DT Corey Mace. Then the previous week, they also lost DE Charleston Hughes and Demonte Bolden. They are now counting on DE Shawn Lemon(3 tackles last week) and Evans(5 tackles). With the lack of pressures from DL, DBs had a hard time controlling the receivers and get beat a lot. Stubler's crew needs to go back to basic and start pressuring the QB. Glenn is prone to make mistakes in the past when he gets pressures a lot.

SPECIAL TEAM :

Special Team had their worst game of the season so far last week. Returner Sederrick Cunningham was very ineffective finding the holes. Maybe that is the reason why he won't be in the lineup tomorrow.

***********************************
FB/LS Tim St. Pierre will be playing his 100 CFL regular season game tomorrow.

On a side note : Former Stamps DE Cordarro Law will make his NFL debut with the San Diego Chargers on Sunday versus Jacksonville.

GO STAMPS GO!!!

GAME NOTES :

Injuries :
Calgary :
SB Marquay McDaniel(hand), RB Martell Mallett(groin), WR Jeff Fuller(shoulder), OL Dan Federkeil(neck), DT Corey Mace(foot), DT Demonte Bolden(broken leg), DT Micah Johnson(knee), DL Ben D'Aguilar(knee), LB Max Caron(knee).

BC :
QB Travis Lulay(shoulder), WR Courtney Taylor, RB Tim Brown, RB Pascal Lochard, OL Hunter Steward, OL Cory Husband, LS Jordan Matechuk, DB Matt McGarva, DB Dante Marsh, DL Khalif Mitchell.

*****************************
The Stamps are 12-9 record vs Lions since John Hufnagel took over the team in 2008. BC K Paul McCallum needs 13 points to become 2nd all-time scorer in CFL history. He will pass former Stamps kicker Mark McLoughlin. SB Nik Lewis needs 120 yards to reach the Top 10 in all-time receiving yards. He is sitting behind former Eskimos Brian Kelly with 11,049 yards.

Pressure on Kevin Glenn is the key today. No pressure and Glenn like an all-star QB.

*********************************

Starting line-up:
Offense :

QB Drew Tate, RB Jon Cornish, FB Rob Cote, SB Nik Lewis, SB Anthony Parker, WR Maurice Price, WR Joe West. C Brett Jones, RG Brander Craighead, RT Spencer Wilson, LG Shane Bergman, LT Stanley Bryant.

Defense :

DE Freddie Bishop, DE Shawn Lemon, DT Junior Turner, DT Dequin Evans, MLB Juwan Simpson, oLB Deron Mayo and Keon Raymond, HB Brandon Smith and Jamar Wall, CB Quincy Butler and Fred Bennett, S Josh Bell.

I thought Fuller was back and ready to go...disappointing to see him listed as injured still.

Tough game this one....Tate has to be better but so do many others.

This is the last game then he's off the injured list and can play next game vs Regina. He's allowed to practice already this week.

Tate better have an arm strength to throw deep in this game otherwise he would be predictable again. Run, short passes and that's it. He better utilize the MoJo show. If no arm strength, we might as well play Moniz.

Defense, on the other hand need to start tighten up. I know our DLine group are hurting right now but they still need to pressure Kevin Glenn in order for the DB to play their man. In the past pre-Stamps Glenn tends to make stupid passes when he's being harrassed. Give him time to pick his receiver means trouble for the Stamps.

GO STAMPS GO!!!

The 2 keys both have to do with the DLine. Have to get pressure on Glenn and somehow stop Andrew Harris who typically has great success against the Stamps.

Got to get Nik the ball! I think he is still very valuable and can make the big catch when needed.

Tate best start stretching the field a bit or at least complete some screens/ quick outs because otherwise Cornish is going to have NO room to operate. The Lions, rightly, are worried about him only and until proven otherwise will smother JC at every turn.

Just brutal play calling there....so freaking obvious that they were up to the line stacking it...but DD calls a run right at it? And Tate doesn't audible out of it?

Ugh.

Offense is so predictable so far. Cornish, short pass or Cornish. This is going to be a long night for the offense.
