Default Why Do High Schools Teach CALM, But Not Critical Thinking?

Has there ever been a push a to replace a course with a Critical Thinking course? I know CALM is a half-semester course, perhaps a Critical Thinking course could be married to it as the other half-semester.

Great Questions and the answer is... it is on its way!

In fact, Critical Thinking plays a major role in almost all of the proposed and/or newly released curriculum I have seen from leading countries around the world. It is even in the new Alberta Education plan (see the attached image from Alberta Education).

Found at: http://education.alberta.ca/teachers...1-century.aspx

Do students get any education on personal finance, ie, more than an afternoon with Junior Achievement?

Personally, I think it's a life skill that all people should know the basic concepts of things like taxes, debt/interest, insurance, investing, etc.

We were taught personal finance stuff in grade 11 & 12 math. Covered pretty much everything you mentioned plus more.

I actually loved my CALM class. Wish I would have listened more, because we had a fabulous teacher.
