Icon48 Rogers announces Hometown Hockey host cities

This season, as part of the new Rogers national broadcast package, City-TV will be showing a national game every Sunday night. Each week, Ron MacLean will host the broadcast from a different community across Canada.

It looks like each community will host a variety of events like a miniature Hockey Day in Canada.

http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/r...5-communities/

3 communities each in BC, Alberta, and Manitoba; 2 each in Saskatchewan and Quebec; 1 each in the four Atlantic provinces; and 8 communities in Ontario.

There doesn't seem to be any particular linkage between the host community and the teams playing.

Cool idea, too bad northern Canada is left out. I understand why, but every province (including PEI) gets hit and none of the Territories. Oh well, at least they found Franklin's ship.

Man, that's a lot of traveling for MacLean.
How is he going to supervise Don cherry on coaches corner, when he's traveling across rural Canada each Sunday?

That's a great question. I wonder if he flies out every Sunday morning? Man, that wouldn't be fun at all for him.

Or maybe Don Cherry flies to where he is every week?

If this was cbc, I would assume he would have a private charter jet flying him everywhere...

There would be a charter plane for most because they have to move the people and equipment as well. I'm sure that bill is already paid for every year.

That map is from 1995, it doesn't even show all 3 territories
