What time will this be on? Would be interesting to listen to what sort of spin is put on this rivalry this year (especially since I think it is starting to become more of a rivalry again).

CFL shouldn't count in the battle of alberta as it should be a real pro sport competing, the Oilers are even walking a fine line as to if they should be in a pro sport!

The Flames have better prospects, fans and our ice girls are way better looking because they have all their teeth and no bruises on their shins.

Shouldn't Edmonton be some what competitive at any of the professional sports that Calgary also has a team in before talking a lot of ####? The Eskimos haven't been competitive for the better part of a decade? The Oilers for twice that? There hasn't been a battle of Alberta since the 90's, so the last thing we need here is a lot of smack talk about a rivalry that really doesn't exist. I'd argue Vancouver presents a bigger rival than Edmonton, and has for the better part of 10 years. The Battle of Albetta doesn't exist until Edmonton proves they are competitive with Calgary teams for 3-5 years.

Seems like the most relevant place to put this. My boss is a hardcore Oilers fan and says Taylor Hall is head and shoulders the best LW in the game. Ahead of the likes of Benn, Parise, Sharp etc. I said he's in the argument for top 5, but is definitely not the consensus pick. I also countered that stats aren't the whole picture and he has yet to prove he can be a team player/winner. The blue kool-aid must taste so sweet.

So, did anyone else actually listen to the show?
http://www.630ched.com/audio-vault/
You can still hear the whole thing in the audio vault—26 Aug, 12:00–2:00 pm.
It was pretty painful and hilarious all at once. Bob Stauffer directed all the conversations and interviews in one of two directions: either backwards with regards to the Edmonton Oilers' past dominance of the NHL and the Calgary Flames, or forwards into what excitement awaits with the emergence of an Edmonton team centred by Nugent Hopkins and Draisaitl v. the Calgary Flames future with Monahan and Bennett in the middle. There was one especially funny moment in which he tried to bait Mark Stevens by asking him whether Flames fans were jealous and jaded by all the Oilers past success. Stevens, to his credit did not bite. It was also very funny to hear him and his Edmonton guests working hard to convince themselves that the BoA means so much more the Flames fans who are all suffering from some sort of inferiority complex because of, well, things that happened over 20 years ago.
Perhaps the most hilarious and infuriating point of the show was when Stauffer declared that Edmonton has always been the model that Calgary has aspired to follow: first to have a professional hockey team; first to have an NHL team; first to win a cup; first to embark on the much ballyhooed "rebuild"; and now first to build a state-of-the-art new arena. He also figured that the Flames will want to jettison coach Bob Hartley at their earliest convenience and again follow Edmonton's lead by replacing him with an innovative "out of the box" disciple of the game like Dallas Eakins. Really. You can't make this stuff up.
So much arrogance. So much misplaced faith. So much fail.

I listened too. My brother loves Stauffer so I thought I'd give it a try. My favourite quote was "there's no debate the oilers are bound for greatness" or something along those lines when talking about how bad the oilers have been. Also funny was the comment about how neither team is ahead in the hockey rivalry, just football. He also thinks it's inevitable the oilers finish ahead of the flames

Spector is writing a book about the Battle of Alberta, and is looking for fan stories too.
Aeneas has some classic tales of bus trips to Northlands in the 1980s.

Heard part of the interview this morning - he told a story about how Dave Brown's jersey was doctored so that Stu Grimson could grab his left hand in the re-match. Poor 'ol Stu went to grab it, couldn't, and the rest is history.
