I've always liked the 10th and 10th car wash downtown. Mostly because they accept credit cards which is much more convenient than making sure I have coins or paper bills on me.

Anywhere in NW that does complete detail? Bucket at Crowfoot is gone.

Agreed...I much prefer to use credit card.
Thanks for the recommendation on 10th and 10th. Someone else mentioned that one to me but I haven't been yet.

There's a decent wand wash behind the Fas Gas Plus around 12th Street and McKnight NE (Not far from the Tim Hortons/Wendy's on McKnight). Unfortunately, not NW, but if you're on Deerfoot, it's only about a 1-2 minute swing over off the McKnight turnoff. There used to be a sign in the back that highlights what they offer in terms of full detailing (not sure if still there). I can't find reference to the wand wash or the hand wash place online. Lots of taxi's and limos on certain days so I doubt it can be that bad. I usually soap and rinse a car in about $3-4. Might cost you more if you want to wax or wash your car inch by inch or whatever else. I think it's coin only.
My buddy goes to the one Northmount drive and 40th Ave. No idea on cost. Closer to central. I think this one takes credit card or coins (not 100% sure tho). I think it's called Western Pride Car Wash. (EDIT: Looks like the online reviews suck. YMMV?)

I have washed my vehicle in all quadrants of the city; however, before I give you my recommendations, I nned to know what you are expecting out of a car wash? Would you say you are a discerning patron, or are you just looking to get the dirt off of your ride and move on.

I don't get too crazy or meticulous. As long as it does a good job. For example, I went to the one at Crowchild & 5th Ave NW and did not like it. On soap setting there was very little soap and the water temp was pretty cold. My car was simply dusty from sitting for a couple of weeks and it didn't come clean with soap and rinse.

I have two that I usually go to that I think is pretty good. The one across Deerfoot Mall and the other one is the one across from the new TnT where the NW bottle Depot is.
Both in my opinion last longer than most car wash places.

The Centex on centre st, just north of 16th ave is probably the best bang for the buck IMO, and they use nice soap so it washes pretty clean. Plus they are heated and 24 hours so if you're in the mood for a late night car wash, that's the one I recommend.
Another one I recently discovered is the one owned by Associated Cabs. It's just east of centre st., on 32nd ave. Also 24 hours.
The one across from Deerfoot Mall is good too, but they only take cash as far as I know, and it's not 24 hours.
The one that sucks is the one at Spy Hill right across from the dump. They use cheap soap so it doesn't wash very clean, plus it's more money per minute than the other three mentioned above.

I like the new-ish one on 16th Ave NW in Montgomery. Take credit cards, well heated and often not too busy at off-peak times.
Most of the time I just collect Esso Extra points on gas only, and get a free luxury wash out of it every 2-3 fill ups. (Between esso visa for gas only and speedpass). So I use that during the winter every couple weeks and then mostly hand wash in the summer.

What do you mean by "gone"? I was just at Big Bucket recently...or did your post go over my head?

Oh, that's good news. Last few times I went there it was out of business. A re-opening?

Not sure, but I was there just like a week or two ago. I've gone there a few times in the last few months, and it's always been there.

In the SE avoid the husky one on 17th ave always long line up, there is barely enough room to walk around your vehicle. And the worst thing that annoys me the most which is why I will never use that one again, the soap keeps running for a good 45-60 seconds after you switch it to rinse. It is such a scam to make you pay more. Their is a big bucket car wash off barlow and 50th I think that is the SE. I usually use that one in the summer/spring time.

Thanks for all the tips. I'll definitely check out a few of these until I find the one(s) I prefer.

Both of those locations are owned by my parent's neighbour. I also find they last longer than any other location I have been to. The one by TnT is called Johnny Rockets named after the owners son.
