If I was betting, it'd be Monahan. The other two you suggested would easily be the alternates (that's of course if everyone stays).

Agree that this discussion is pointless as I don't see Gio moving on any time soon. He loves being captain and the Flames love him as captain.
I will say that whoever has to fill Gio's shoes is going to be in tough (provided Gio maintains his play/attitude from last year).

Yes. What of it?
He'll be leading from the press-box or behind the bench. Or he'll run up and down the ice in sneakers motivating the players.
Gio is going to be the Captain for a while yet, why are we already looking past him? Not to mention, in his first season as Captain he did a goddamned bang-up job. He was great. No need to look at his replacements any time soon.

Monahan and Bennett both have leadership qualities and could both easily be future captains one day. It will be interesting to see who is wearing the C years from now - I wouldn't be surprised if they were both viewed as co-captains together, regardless of who is wearing the C.
I don't see Giordano going anywhere for at least a few years, he's doing a phenomenal job right now and it's comforting knowing he is the leader influencing our young guys.
I would love to see Backlund wear an A this season though, I think he's earned it.
