Default Brad Treliving on Fan960 at 4 PM

Hey guys and gals, I was just in the car and heard that Brad Treliving will be on the Fan960 at 4 PM this afternoon.

I will do a live summary in this post.

SUMMARY:

Sam Bennett
- Not a difficult/urgent signing (unsurprisingly).
- Sam's goal to make the NHL.
- I expect him to be hungry. I expect there to be a lot of want and will. But, I expect he will be back in junior.
- Monahan is the exception, not the rule. I want to be clear that players will not be pushed into the NHL for any reason. They have to be ready.
- We want him to do well and be prepared, but there is no pressure in terms of pushing him into the NHL.
- Bennett's play and readiness will determine where he plays.
- World Juniors is a great experience for young players.
- First year(draft year) is difficult for players because it is extremely busy (Ivan Hlinka, prospects game, junior season, combine, draft, development camp, world juniors camp).
- Development camp is the first experience with "your player". With Sam, Development Camp served to solidify the Flames' opinion on him.
- He learns very well. Very determined, doesn't take no for an answer.
- Part of Bennett's DNA is leadership, personal responsibility for wins and losses.
- From Development camp: Bennett plays at a high tempo. Can execute at a high pace. Doesn't matter the situation, he competes constantly. Doesn't care that it's development camp, he battles like it is any other game.
- Bennett's internal will stood out for me.

Other 2014 Draft Picks
- Not a priority to sign other picks right away.

Jonas Hiller
- Appendicitis.
- Procedure was minor, laparoscopically done. Recovery only 9-12 days.

Tyler Wotherspoon
- Had a significant procedure on his shoulder, and is progressing well.

Emile Poirier
- Also had a significant shoulder surgery and is progressing well. Possibly not a full participant at training camp.

Pat Sieloff
- *knock on wood* "All systems go" for training camp.

DONE!

Bennett signing, but Kerr also said he had some other questions he didn't get to ask yesterday.

He understands it's summer time in a hockey hungry city and wants to keep people up to date... my opinion anyways

Bennett centering Klimchuk in the World Juniors would be a nice Christmas present.

I listened too, and just to add a bit from development camp, "Bennett doesn't look at the calendar when he wants the puck. You can't teach that."

Also, "He soaked up like a sponge all the off ice things at camp like nutrition and training." [He's very teachable and has that drive..] Paraphrased but I got that out of it too, but not quotable. Pretty much said that.

I may have missed it, but did they ever ask him about the pull-up at the combine?

Will be interesting to see if Bennett makes the WJC team as a C.

Last two times he played for Canada he made the team as the 1st line LW (2013 IIHF U18s, 2013 Ivan Hlinka).

Canada usually always has an overwhelming C depth that pushes guys to the wings.

I'm not fully caught up on the 2015 WJC roster, But who at C is better than Bennett and McDavid? Is Strome?

And I don't think Jankowski is eligible either.

Oh, fyp is a notice from the grammar /spelling police. Perhaps the OP should have used google to get the proper spelling? Some people...

As often as not it's a way to change the meaning of the post, often for humourous purposes.
