Must have wanted to be closer to home.

Makes no sense for him to sign with that d-core on a 2-way contract since he won't stick on their roster.

Sweet.

Please put Butler and Bouwmeester together any time the Flames are playing the Blues.

That pairing was simply magic.

Not surprised on the two way deal, he is not an NHL calibre D man.

#stlblues and Chris Butler have been talking for last few weeks. Will be good addition on the back end. Great player and person

Will he be the 7th defenseman for the Blues? 8th?

Yeah right, it will take one training camp for him to be on Hitchcock's no play list.

Good riddance. Hope Hitch reunites the Butler-Bouwmeester pairing that worked so well for us.

He's got a chance to make the Blues which is what he wants and if ends up on waivers, someone should pick him up.

This validates to me that Brent Sutter was a terrible and stubborn coach.

Was Butler on a one way last year? Seems odd that he couldn't get another one way deal

depth signing who has shown the ability to be able to play in a controlled setting/role (ie. bottom pairing guy).

i was really curious to see if his stats like blocked shots would have resulted in him getting a decent contract this offseason. Although, the fact he signed in his hometown, hard to tell if he took the best offer he had or took a discount to go where he really wanted to.

Not at all surprising. Chris was set on signing for the Blues if they would find a way to take him. If not, he would've signed for the team closest to Missouri who would take him.

He's putting life above money (assuming someone else would've signed him for more/one-way) and as a bonus has a chance to win. He's a great, well-liked guy but mediocre hockey player.
