Calgary population to hit 2.4M by 2041
In the latest Calgary Herald they mention that the city is set to hit 2.4 million people by 2041 according to current projections.
http://www.calgaryherald.com/news/al...881/story.html
I just hope the city can handle the growth and put in the proper infrastructure that is already desperately needed.

The error I see is Banff. Don't they have 8k permanent residents and they are already maxed out on space?

The Drumheller bubble should be slightly north of the Banff bubble.

It does, but what are they using for projections. Since half the people that "live" there are transient or don't claim it as a residence, or are living in an illegal basement suite and not counted in the census, which is going to skew the numbers.
Population is listed there now as 60+. I'd bet it's currently way higher.

So drumheller is forecast to take off while barely any growth at all happens in Ft Mac? Yep, sounds about right to me.

2.4 million, probably not. Canada's population growth is set to slow. Baby boomers are getting older and our natural increase gets smaller every year, which means less migration to alberta and Calgary. Unless of course our country is ready for immigration or things like invitro support.

What the article fails to consider are population caps in most alberta towns. Banff, Canmore and okotoks all working with caps, airdrie's mayor now talking about crowding and even Calgary's concerned with getting too big.

Lethbridge would be an awesome city to live in at 241,000 people. Whatever it is at now, not so much.
