He's still a useful NHL player with the right fit.

I liked Stempniak when he was in Calgary.. a little streaky but I always felt the effort was there.

If I can think of one disappointing point of the season last year it was when Ference beat the crap out of Stempniak and there was no retribution by the Flames.

Will be interesting to see the $ figures.

Rangers have $13.2 mil in cap space before this signing and still need to re-sign Brassard, Zucarello, Kreider and J. Moore.

Brassard is reportedly asking for $5.5mil/yr and Zucarello is asking for $4.5mil/yr

The Whirling Dervish!

Good luck Lee. I'm guessing 1.5M.

On the good side for us, there will be one less RW spot open, if Kevin Hayes wants to consider the Rangers.

Players like Stempniak confuse me; tons of speed, good hands but could never produce regularly enough or stick with one team. I wonder what stops a guy with the talents of Stempniak from reaching the next level.

Surprising, the Rangers had a good view of his poor play in the playoffs.

I liked Stempniak on the Flames. Streaky offensively, but was decent defensively and threw the occasional and surprising big hit. Hope he does well this season.

OT, but I don't think the Rangers were ever really an option for Hayes. It's Calgary or Florida, and you can quote me on that.

Honestly, with some guys you just get a feeling. With Hayes I get a really strong feeling that he will be signing with the Flames soon. The bromance he has going on with Gaudreau is something fierce.

I remember his first season here and at the last game of the year a fan threw his jersey onto the ice. He became so mad and incensed. He was so upset that he was shaking his fist at the fan, and picked up the Jersey.

It was great to see that. It shows he really cared and considering he was just traded in. The other players were not bother whatsoever. That part was strange.

I wonder if there's more to the story on that one. On the surface it looked like an unwilling combatant, but then there was no instigator and Flames standing up for him.

You read the Post article in the Hayes thread? or are you just going off your feelings? Anyways my post was kind of serious but not totally.

Going off my gut. Hayes will be a Flame. It's Friday and I've been drinking.

Anyway, enough thread hijacking from me. Congrats to Stemp. He earned another shot.

Nah, it was poor officiating followed by a disinterested Flames team that night. It happens.
