Yeah, at that price and term, I'm surprised he lasted this long and ended up signing with a team like Ottawa that doesn't look to be particularly outstanding. I guess he wasn't very good in Detroit, but he's been like the Toyota Corolla of the NHL. Pretty dependable player who's been around for a long time, but didn't offer much of anything in terms of excitement for a high draft pick.

Good signing should help keep them away from Mcdavid.

I guess he could have turned them down but he seems like the exact kind of center and a perfect deal for Edmonton.
This was my thought, as well. Just makes so much sense for edm.
Decent deal for Ottawa although a bit humbling after the whole debate last year when Alfredson chose Detroit "for a better chance to win" that they are now reduced to picking up Detroit's leftovers.

Pretty serious downgrade from Spezza. Maybe they're expecting big things from Turris. God knows they need it or Bobby Ryan is going to be looking for the exits.
Good move, always liked the guy. Hopefully the sens can stay out of the basement! I wonder if they'll eh to sign any other help. Alfredson and Heatley are still available aren they?
