Default GAME 1 : Montreal at STAMPEDERS

First game of the season for Calgary Stampeders on Saturday @ 1:00pm at McMahon Stadium. I am sure a lot of veterans are still not happy of the outcome of last season's Western Division Final especially players like Demonte Bolden, Micah Johnson and Nik Lewis who all missed the game due to injury.

A lot of changes with the Stampeders starting from the coaching staff all the way to the players. Defensive Coordinator Rick Campbell is now the head coach of the expansion team Ottawa, has been replaced by former Lions' DC Rich Stubler.

Offense :
Quarterback :
Bo Levi Mitchell will be the starting QB vs Montreal. Drew Tate and Bryant Moniz will be BLM's backup.

Running Back :
Jon Cornish is the undisputed starter along with Matt Walter and Jock Sanders as his backup. FB Rob Cote and Tim St. Pierre will be the fullback.

Offensive Linemen :
We lost the versatality of Jon Gott and J.Michael Deane. Toughness of Dmitri Tsoumpas. In comes rookies like Brander Craighead(OG), 1st pick overall Pierre Lavertu(OG/C), Spencer Wilson finally getting the starting job as OG. Dan Federkeil, Edward Harrison and Stanley Bryant are the other OLines.

Receivers :
Hufnagel brought in a lot of receivers to challenged the veterans but none of the rookies beat out the veterans. Nik Lewis is now healthy and will start as a SB opposite McDaniel. Jeff Fuller will also see some action as both SB and wideout. Mo Price will be the starter but his partner Joe West will not suit up this game. Nationals like Sinopli, Charbonneau-Campeau, and Anthony Parker are the rest of receiving crew. Jabari Arthur will start on the injured list.

Defensive Linemen :
Looks like the Sackmaster Charleston Hughes will get double-teamed a lot this season now that Cordarro Law playing on the opposite end last season. At this point Shawn Lemon is set to replace Law with Freddie Bishop III platooning with him. Bolden, Micah Johnson(injured), Corey Mace and rookie Quinn Smith will be the Interior DLine.

Linebacker :
Not much changes here.

Defensive Back :
Hardest hit in the Stamps roster. Gone are S Eric Fraser(woohoo!!), Chris Randall, Derrius Brooks and Butler(suspension). Stamps sign 2 former BC Lions Lin J Shell and Joshua Bell. Veteran Brandon Smith, rookie Buddy Jackson, Jeff Hecht and Keenan MacDougall are the rest.

##########################
Montreal made a lot of changes as well. Gone are LB Shea Emry, receiver Richardson was one of the final cut. QB Troy Smith is now the leader of this team. New additions are : Chad "OchoCinco" Johnson, HC Tom Higgins.

There will be 7 former University of Calgary Dinosaurs playing in this game. 3 of them in Stamps uni (Anthony Parker, Dan Federkeil and Matt Walter), while Montreal have 4 (Michael Klassen, Edem, Steven Lumbala and Zaleski).

Let the season begin... GO STAMPS GO!!!

Looking forward to seeing Ochocinco live and in person -- I think the last big NFL name to suit up at McMahon was Ricky <<inhale>> Williams.

I'm not sold on Montreal's offense and Troy Smith -- the potential is certainly there, but without someone experienced calling the plays (Ryan Dinwiddie?), I don't see them becoming "elite" this year.

Chad Johnson will disappoint like most over the hill NFL players that come to the CFL.

Suddenly Nik Lewis tweets on Thursday made sense. I was actually concerned and thought did the Stamps released him that I don't know about. I checked the Stamps website and no mentioned of Nik's release. Anyways, I guess Nik Lewis found out he won't be the starter in today's game but he will play just not starting. He is going to be the Designated Import today after OG Dan Federkeil went down with a slight injury meaning he won't play as precautionary and Import OL Edwin Harrison will go in and it means an import player will go in as DI.

CB Fred Bennett will play against OchoCinco today and he is very excited.

Hopefully McMahon is full and there is no reason it shouldn't be. Home opener, promising team. New face of the franchise at QB.

If Lewis came into camp 15-20 pounds lighter he would probably be starting. It would set a bad precedent awarding a guy who obviously doesn't take off-season training seriously.

Price! Huge touchdown for the Stampeders, great way to end the quarter.

11-0.

Now we have to play good against the wind.

Id rather see Cornish get the ball more here in the 2nd quarter, especially with the wind, eat that clock.
