People Are Trying To Get Facebook To Ban A 19-Year-Old Cheerleader Who Hunts Endangered Animals
Kendall Jones is a 19-year-old girl from Cleburne, Texas. And recently she's become a fairly well-known figure on Facebook for her controversial page.

Jones has been hunting big game in Africa since she was 13 years old. When she’s not hunting, Jones is a cheerleader for Texas Tech University.
I am going to guess that this is being blown way out of proportion.
I doubt that she is poaching animals illegally in Africa which means she is probably hunting them on private game reserves.
The private reserves are set up for hunting and charge a huge premium for hunting animals. The money then goes back into conservation. The reserves would likely not exist if it wasn't for hunting and the animals wouldn't either.

Agreed. As distasteful as I find hunting I have heard strong arguments that big game hunting is much better for the African economy than other safari tourists - they spend a whole lot of money for that one animal and have a lower impact on the environment than the typical safari camp visitor. With most safari lodges being owned by foreigners the only money from some tourists that stays in the local economy is their food and game park entry fees.
My question is, what joy does anyone get, out of killing a beautiful animal like that. It would only cause me sadness to snuff out a life. I guess some people just love killin'.

I don't understand hunting either. What's fun or sporting about shooting an unsuspecting animal from a distance? If they were engaging in hand to paw combat then it would make a bit more sense.
Yeah, to deal with the asides, I don't think there would be much difference between male and female (and other social differences) in this particular case.
Also as many people have mentioned, there is probably a lot of bad information floating around. Illegal hunts? Endangered animals? Mehhhh, I dunno.
Still though, I find any type of trophy hunting pretty despicable and I hope one day there are better laws to deal with it. It's a process I guess, most countries have better understanding and laws than they did 100 years ago, Canada included obviously. But I hope we continue on the path we are now where laws get stricter and stronger and public support continues to turn away from such acts as these.
Not relevant. There's a difference between trying to protect species and going out and actively hunting them (to extinction).
As well, Carlin is one of the best comedians of all time, but he's no biologist.
You're making the assumption that I posted this as a form of opinion. I just posted it because the thread reminded me of it. It is not mutually inclusive, I am not comparing them, and I am not making a statement.
With that said, take your assumptions and go pound sand buddy.

It's an internet discussion. If you don't clarify in the sort of manner you just did, an argument or comment on the topic at hand is implied. At the very least, you have to admit you open yourself up to misunderstandings and don't really have ground to stand on if people don't get it.
Don't get all snippy because you weren't clear. Furthermore a simple statement of your intention in your reply and I probably woulda said, 'oh ok, I didn't get that, my mistake.' But seeing as how you are bent on escalating, and you appear to want to lay blame all over the forum without looking at your own actions, I'm not going to worry about what you think from here on in. On this topic or others.
Just because I didn't make a statement doesn't mean there is only one possible motivation implied. There could be a million things and yet you chose to assume something that is argumentative and douchie. Take some responsibility for not asking for clarification before making an assumption on my intentions. Funny how you want me to take responsibility for escalation but you won't take responsibility for coming out with an argumentative post based in a faulty assumption. Hypocrite.
Furthermore, I shouldn't have to caveat a YouTube clip so that you don't jump to conclusions and then tell me it's my fault you jump to conclusions.
