I remember a time when people were most upset that Aulie was included in the Phaneuf trade.

Tampa didn't qualify him so he became a UFA.

If your under 25 around these parts, it's like you are considered to be pure gold regardless of ability, unless you are brought in from outside the organization, then regardless of age or potential, people don't see how you fit with all the other gold bars in the vault and we should just give our gold bars a chance.

Because there was absolutely no need to package one of our few decent prospects with Phaneuf haha. I still don't know why Aulie got traded

Kid seemed like a good guy. Had that crazy story about saving his dad as well.
But he is going to get thrown to the wolves with this signing.
I can only hope it is a multi year deal

He has never, at any point in his career, played more than half of a season in the NHL.
Only 15 games last year, battled injury.
In truth, he isn't any better than anything Edmonton already had. And that's saying something.

Uses his reach to his advantage but Aulie is not a very good skater.
