Icon28 Detroit signs Quincey (2yrs, $4.25M AAV)

Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie
Kyle Quincey signs a 2-year deal with AAV of $4.25M with DET.

After being shut out in free agency, had no choice but to go back to Quincey

Wow no one wants to play D in Detroit so they have to pay high? Bizarre.

He's been pretty terrible since coming over to Detroit imo. I guess they were forced into signing him after striking out on a couple other players, but for a team near the cap ceiling 4.25 is a bit much.

He's put up some really ugly numbers since leaving Colorado though (4g 9a in all 82 games this season). For more of an offensive defenceman those are very poor numbers.

Thats a big price tag for Quincey. Glad we didnt win those sweep stakes, just too expensive.

Ken Holland is a really overrated GM, team has been pretty average since Lidstrom left. The scouts who keep finding players late are saving that franchise,

Has to be the first time in a while that Detroit has had trouble attracting UFA's.. usually they are flocking to the Wings. They do have some good options on the farm as well though, Ouellet, Sproul and Almqvist all appear to be NHL caliber D men..

Yeah, it's almost like losing one of the top defenceman in the history of the universe hurt them. Weird.

Anaheim seems to have recovered nicely since Niedermayer left. When you have Zetterberg/Datsyuk, you should be better than mediocre.
