Oooo, the idea of #4 and one of Kapanen, Perlini is so drool inducing.

I heard rumbles of this all yesterday.
Sounds like they really want to add Ritchie, but with a second pick.
Haven't really thought about Kapanen, Fleury or Perlini much because they always seemed out of our range. Maybe one of them. Or Virtanen?

What's moving? Other picks, Glencross, Hudler, Wideman (retained), prospects .. ? I could see any of those guys going.

Outside of Brodie, Gio or Monahan I can't see what we would be offering to get a top 10 pick.

With the organization's desire to get bigger, they could be using Sven/Backlund as pieces in order to add a prospect (Ritchie) that addresses a need they feel needs addressing.

I think if the flames pick up a center at 4 we could see someone like Backlund moved out.

In this scenario, picking Ritchie would be amazing.

So Calgary doesn't want to give up their 1st to get a top-10 pick back? Good luck with that. Maybe try trading next year's pick, that might get them something, but I can't see what package we could offer.

Why would you move him out? He's he Flames best center, on the best contract.

something else haha

This is a pretty neat article about placing a number value on every pick. If the numbers add up to greater then what you are giving up, in theory it is a good deal for you.

I know the Columbus Blue Jackets do this. With that said, if we traded both our 2nds the value chart would suggest we could get 16th overall.

The only centre in this draft that should be playing in the NHL next season is Reinhart.
If we move a centre, should be somebody like Colborne or Stajan.
Backlund is by far our best C and faces the toughest minutes on the team. He's somebody you play to shelter rookies.

I prefer this over trading up. Would imagine our 2nd's are involved.
