Icon24 How much will Toews and Kane get?

It's been widely reported that the Hawks want to extend Toews and Kane right away so they can plan their cap situation in the future but how much will they get?

They are obviously two of the best players in the NHL, neither are top 10 in scoring but they bring more to the table than that. Both are beasts in the playoffs. Toews is one of the best captains and Kane can literally throw the team on his back at will. They might take a bit of a hometown discount but nothing too extreme IMO.

I'm thinking 8 years, 9.5M with a full NMC each.

7.5 per on five years deals is my guess.

That would be a great deal for the Blackhawks, imo.

My guess is between 8.5 and 9.0

I think Kane will get done for 8.5M per year. I think Toews will get 10M.

7 x 9.0 is my guess for both of them.

I expect that they'll get identical contracts, somewhere in the $8M/year for 7 or 8 years range.

Haha, no way. Two of the best players in the game, multiple Stanley cups. The only way they sign those sweetheart deals is if they both decide to take severe home town discounts. Very unlikely.

Like others have said, long term deals in the 8.5 and up range.

Yeah, I think I was off by a million or half a million. I forgot that getzlaf/Perry set the bar with their stupid contracts.

8.5m x 8 years, for both.

They'll be wanting Getzlaf(8.25)/Perry(8.6) money.

Max term, 8.5 each, full NMC. That would be my guess.

My only thought is that guys like Sharp, Hossa, Keith, Seabrook also eat a bunch more cap than Anaheim's supporting crew. They may need to sacrifice one of them to justify long term stability.

The cap should also be up. Getzlaf and Perry ate up 25% of the Ducks cap space this year. Come 2015 the upper limit should be 73-74. Kane and Toews are also younger. They should come in around 9 each for 8 years.

A lot. $9-10 million contracts on both. That's what these players would fetch on the open market from their team of choice.

I don't agree. I would say Toews will make more than Patrick Kane because Captain Serious is more important than Kane. I bet you if the Hawks have to choose who to trade between the two, I will bet my life that they'll trade Kane and keep Toews especially presently. I do agree that Toews will command $8M or more but I would say Kane might get $7M or $7.5M.
