Calgary Flames @NHLFlames
Treliving has announced Ryan Huska has been named the @AHLFlames new head coach. Huska comes from the @Kelowna_Rockets of @TheWHL.
Randy Sportak @SUNRandySportak
Huska has had all kinds of success in the junior ranks with the Rockets. "This is a significant hire for us," Flames GM Treliving.
Randy Sportak @SUNRandySportak
"I couldn't be more happy for having him join our organization," Treliving. He said Brad Pascall and Craig Conroy headed the search.

This seems like a really solid hire. Hopefully he injects some of whatever he injects into Rocket defensemen into Adirondack defensemen. If so we will be laughing.

As I put in the thread we had going in the Back Burner forum for Adirondack stuff:
Huska has been with the Kelowna Rockets coaching staff for the last 12 years. His first 5 he was an assistant coach, the last 7 as a Head Coach. He has WHL Championship in 2008-2009 and a coaching record of 303-164-0-37.

I love this hire. I've actually suggested him as a hire for the big club when we were hired Hartley.
Brilliant coach, the D is about to get a lot better. Rockets have been a defencemen producing factory.

And not even 40 years old. Good hire by the Flames and great opportunity and step up for Huska.

I can't complain. We will see how he handles older players.

I like our chances of getting another d-man in the rough. Brodie in the 4th was awesome.

I still think Kulak and/or Culkin are going to be diamonds in the rough.....this hire doesn't change that thinking at all either BTW.

Ekblad would likely never see the AHL so there's no connection to be imagined there

I wonder if Kulak, Culkin, or Kanzig could pan out under him?

Awesome hire. Young, smart guy who basically just wins everywhere he goes.
