After 11 weeks of blood, sweat and a lot of tears, the Golden Inn Restaurant in Chinatown is proud to finally re-open their doors since the catastrophic flood that hit Calgary on June 20, 2013. The restaurant is located a block from the Bow river and was hit pretty bad. It required renovations throughout most of the restaurant and thorough sanitation.

To celebrate the restaurants grand re-opening and 36 year anniversary, they are offering all guests 10% off the bill everyday until September 30, 2013!

The restaurant has an 88% “Like It” rating on Urbanspoon. It's renowned for its delicious Cantonese-style dishes and super-late hours. The salt and pepper squid is purported to be the best in the city.

My parents have owned the restaurant since 1977 and this is their life and passion, your support would be truly appreciated.

You probably have but much like my Golden Inn experiences, the only evidence is a small to-go container of chicken friend rice on the counter and a soya sauce stain on your shirt after a long night of drinking.

I personally find Golden Inn's S&P Squid overrated... always over cooked. Other than that, I like everything else I tried there.

We are only open for dinner and late night.

Here's our hours:
Mon – Thurs: 4:00pm – 3:00am
Fri – Sat: 4:00pm – 4:00am
Sun – Holiday: 4:00pm – 2:00am

We're pretty busy on the weekends. I suggest you make reservations if you don't want to wait. You can make reservations online at OpenTable or by calling 403-269-2211.

Sorry, no groupon type daily deals. I've discussed it with my parents before, but they weren't interested and haven't ran any group deals.

It doesnt make a ton of sense for any place that is well off to run such groupon deals as they take such a hit.
$25 for $50 in food typically puts $12.50 into the owners pocket while they make $50 for someone. Ive talked to a few people who have run groupons and they all regret it!

My mom told me that our family had it's first Chinese meal in Calgary at the Golden Inn when they first immigrated here to Calgary in '79. But that was before I was born... She says you guys have good congee heh.

I tried to pop by at noon earlier this week too, only to find it doesn't open for lunch

After a big night of drinking he woke up with a lobster in his bathtub. True story.
