I thought the new site design was a train wreck. It's hard on the eyes and doesn't have much flow.

Kudos to them trying something new, but they've missed the mark by a mile.

Crazy to see Ritchie ahead of both Reinhart and Draisaitl.

Burke mentioned in that Flames.com piece that they could move down if a player or two goes in the top three that they don't expect.

All of our talk has been around Ritchie, and whether the Flames are going to take him at 4 or use him as a smoke screen ...

imagine if the Oilers took him and oddly enough both Sams fell to Calgary. (Buffalo takes Draisaitl)

so a draft that was top 3 (ekblad/reinhart/bennet)heavy originally it seems, then went to a top 4 heavy (inclusion of draisatl), and now top 5 (inclusion of ritchie).

i still feel the decision for flames management will be draisatl vs ritchie at #4, as i believe bennet/ekblad/reinhart are all taken in the top3 regardless of order.

They think Reinhart will be available at 5? I've not heard anything close to that so far. Would be amazing to snag him at 4. I think if he was on the Flames it would push Max that much more to become a full-time NHLer and not get shoved into his brothers shadow.

How does Sportsnet's draft list compare in the past?

960 has been pumping Richie's tires all morning. I'm starting to get very worried that fans are being set up in advance so there's not as much uproar when the team goes off the board and takes Dustin Penner V2 at #4.

Reinhart is so underrated.

Ritchie at 3 is not good.

If he got picked at #3 that would be very good.

I would shed tears of laughter if he was picked at 3.

Then you can imagine what will happen if the Flames pick him at 4. I will have to turn off my phone.

I'd be equally worried if Gare Joyce and Marek didn't have him 3

That is a very separate source, and an interesting suggestion that his stock has risen.

Nick Ritchie doesn't play like Penner at all.

Well he's overweight and struggles with consistency. Sounds a lot like Penner to me but at least Penner could stay relatively healthy and Ritchie has struggled with injuries as well.

... and was Penner even drafted? I don't think the comparison is fair at all.

Ryan Kennedy has a different take today at THN:

http://www.thehockeynews.com/blog/th...raft-rankings/

He has the top 7 as follows:
1. Ekblad
2. Sam Bennett
3. Draisaitl
4. Sam Reinhart
5. Dal Colle
6. Nylander
7. Nik Ritchie

It's fair if you are trying to project what type of player Ritchie could turn into. Penner is an NHL player after all and if Ritchie can actually stay healthy and make the NHL (not a given) is his upside Penner or better? If it's only Penner then I would pass at 4th overall.
