Icon27 Dallas to use compliance buyout on Aaron Rome

assuming he clears waivers

Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie
DAL puts Aaron Rome on unconditional ($125) waivers for purposes of enacting a buyout. Only player on waivers today.

Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie
There are regular buyouts (count against cap) and compliance buyouts (not counted against cap). Rome's buyout in DAL is a compliance buyout.

had 1yr left at $1.5mil

Votes to make this a complete compliance buyout thread and sureLoss can update the OP to keep a list?

Is a 1 year 1.5 million deal really worth it to buy-out?

I guess for teams like Dallas every little bit counts but seems like you may as well just keep him as the 7th defenseman as the replacement is likely to cost that much.

Could be to get an extra contract spot then. I don't know how many out of 50 Dallas currently has.

49 including Rome and their unsigned RFAs.

39 excluding their unsigned RFAs

There might be a few that will certainly deserve their own thread (Richards x 2).

That's pretty close if they are chasing some European UFAs.

Gotta want the roster spot. 1.5 isn't going to stop you from doing anything but being so hard up on contract spots might.

49 spots but some RFA's that not sure about why they will re-sign but I guess teams prefer to sign their RFA's then letting them walk.

Isn't this the last offseason to use compliance buyouts too?
May as well use them if you think you'll be buying a player out anyways, regardless how small the contract is.

Of their free agents, I doubt Whitney (UFA), Fiddler (UFA) and Jeffrey (RFA) won't be back.

They need a backup too, unless they're planning on handing it to Campbell.
