Default Rob Kerr and Charlie Simmer let go by Sportsnet, Rob Kerr to Return to FAN 960

On twitter, couldn't find a thread here, hope it's not a fata.

RossCreekNation
John Shannon confirms to @JasonGregor that Rob Kerr & Charlie Simmer have been let go by Sportsnet.
2014-04-17, 5:27 PM

EDIT: Seems like Kerr will be returning to Fan960, yay!

Ian Busby@buzrbe10 mins Flames games will have new play by play man on Sportsnet next year. Rob Kerr won't be back. He's going back to afternoons on Fan 960 ...

Will keep the rumour tag up I guess until an actual news release?

EDIT 2: Announced on the FAN 960 that Kerr is returning May 5th to radio. Changed thread title.

Better not get my hopes up for nothing.

Bill Clement and Gary Thorne better be the replacement

I was about to recall the Rob Kerr thread. Can't find any confirmation yet but sounds like it's true.

Didn't mind Kerr but as they make the move to improve their broadcast as they move to a national model he just wasn't good enough.

Just saw a tweet saying John Shannon has confirmed they we're let go.

I hope they reunite Kerr and Steinberg in the afternoon.

So Kerr back to the radio where he excels? That would be the best scenario, would love to hear him there, again.

Kerr going back to the FAN talking hockey with Steinberg would be great.

Hope Kerr goes back to the Fan960 and isn't outright let go from Sportsnet in general. The guy was a bad pbp guy, but he was good as a radio sports guy.

Agree, hope Kerr isn't gone for good from Sportsnet, he's a great guy on the radio and one of the few FAN960 guys that seem to now have a good pulse on the team now.

Before anyone gets too crazy and because I've been a harsh critic I hope Rob Kerr lands on his feet soon somewhere else and you know what, I'm sure he will. Kerr is a fantastic host, very good on the radio but he was totally and completely out of his depth as a play-by-play guy for an NHL team on TV.

Hoping this is a trend towards Sportsnet raising the quality for the Flames.

Pretty ****'n stupid for people to react like they're sports team won. It's real people, whose careers and lives are being affected.

Of course most of us didn't think they were up to par, and this decision reinforces that. But I hate when people cheer others for losing their jobs.

I would be upset if Kerr doesn't go back to 960. He is the best in that medium.

Yeah, I hope we can maybe keep it classy in here and not hold a celebration over someone losing their job. This isn't like a coach or GM getting fired. These guys get paid pennies and have to work their asses off.

I am with the many on this one. I like Kerr on the radio. But he was Crap at PBP. Simmer was utter painful. State the obvious. Move your feet. Stumble through a thought while the play is live. Move your feet. Painful.

Tough part of the business...Flames broadcasts will have new PBP crew. Hoping @SNRobKerr gets back in the game soon. Great guy.
