Interesting. I feel Blysma is done for sure and Shero 50/50. Glad the Penguins aren't dragging their feet here as it's pretty obvious that some changes need to be made.

Blysma lost the locker room as per the talks of arguing and dissention in the locker room and general poor play of the team in the playoffs. That has to end and it will today.

Full house cleaning? Given the age of Crosby and Malkin this is probably the right time to do it if you feel the current group has run their course. Kind of glad the Flames got their man without waiting as there's going to be a logjam of teams looking for GM's. Not great for the Canucks (unless the Benning rumours are true and that's a done deal) which is great because the Penguins are a much better situation for a top GM candidate.

Probably stating the obvious here but been told it will be announced at 1130 that Bylsma has been let go. No word yet on Shero.

Considering how critical of a juncture this is for the Penguins, I think it would be a good call to clean house, bring in fresh blood and rebuild a core around Crosby/Malkin. They have some great trade pieces and a savvy GM would be able to shop around this off-season and put a huge fingerprint on the team. Trotz would be a great hire as well, if he could get the most out of a Nashville team that has always had average personnel imagine what he could do with Crosby and Malkin.

The case of the Penguins is perhaps the best example of why the draft is so important for all teams. Shoot blanks on the draft and even if you have the two best players in the world you'll still fail to win the cup.

I felt this should have been done at the end of last season and fully expected this year to be a waste of a season. I think the Pens will be in much better shape to take a run come the playoffs next season especially if they hire a coach with some real structure to mitigate the flaws in the roster depth.

I'd love Lemieux to go crazy owner and do a fire sale as GM.

PIT assistant GM Jason Botterill likely to take over on an interim basis. Shero likely to immediately become frontrunner for GM job in WSH.
