Default Honda Element - got one?

Anybody have one?

If yes, what does a tank of fuel run you? (also approx size of tank)

How many kilometers do you get on a tank in the city?

Ive been considering getting one, but I would like to know this info before digging deeper.

All the best

Buying a new car is daunting, something out of my element.

Good luck though!

You can probably look up the fuel tank size on Honda's website (or a Element-focus forum).

Still open to first hand accounts, if anybody has one.

Let me google that for you:

http://www.skidmore.edu/~pdwyer/e/specifications.htm (you didn't give a year, so you might have to use google yourself)

The numbers car manufacturers give are usually not realistic. I bet they drive like old grannies while doing their fuel mileage tests.

First hand experience is a better way to tell what the actual fuel mileage is.

10L/100km would be my best real world guess with an Element.

Had a 2007 for 3 years back in 2007 when I was running my consulting business. It was a 2007 EX AWD and was pretty good to drive. On gas, it wasn't spectacular. In the city I think I was somewhere between 400 and 450km a tank, but that's going purely by memory. I kept a fuel log and I think I remember averaging it out to 21mpg city/highway. The problem with the Elements is they are HEAVY. I've heard the 2 wheel drive standards are much better but probably still in the 25mpg range average.

Cargo wise, it was amazing. Could fit a half Dell server rack in the back without issue. AWD was great, never got stuck. And it was great to drive on the highways. I also pulled a 13ft Boler trailer with it, without any issue.

Your mileage may vary.

what is so amazing about fitting in HALF of the server rack, so you need to make two trips or have two elements to deliver the whole rack. I am sure there are many vehicles (including ships and or trains), where you could easily deliver the whole rack in just one trip.

Seems to me this Element is the wrong vehicle for the OP. He clearly needs a more manly SUV, or a Hummer.........

Someone into aesthetics shouldn't drive such a horrible looking vehicle.

I don't mind the look of them. Beside I've never identified with the vehicle I drive. I'd like a Toyota Hilux or a Kia Bongo but they are not the easier machines to come by in Canada.

With all that storage you could easily store half a ladder in the back.

When the Element debuted at the car show back in the day, I walked up to the Honda rep and asked "Is this the fully loaded model with every option?"

He said "Yes!"

I then asked him "So where is the paper bag to put on your head when you are driving it?"

Then there was a good 8-10 seconds of awkward silence with eye contact.

I assume those bags are standard with the Beetle as well? Or do you just use the bag that your mini-sunflower for the dashboard comes in?

VW doesn't skimp on options.

We always include the paper bag.
