Playing devil's advocate here... what is the likelihood of actually getting enough people to attend games in Glens Falls? The population is only 15,000.

Abbotsford had a population of 130,000.

In terms of naming... Adirondack Heat? Wouldn't have to change the jerseys much!

(All of the prior teams in Glens Falls have been Adirondack *insert name here*)

Glens Falls Civic Center is a 35-year-old arena that has a capacity of 4,749 plus standing room only adding another 1,000.

On Oct. 3, 2009, the brand-new "Adirondack Phantoms" made their official debut to an overflow crowd of 5,411 jamming into the 4,800-seat Glens Falls Civic Center.

And the fans have kept coming. Nearly 600,000 of them in total in the team's five seasons in the North Country. Not bad for a city with a population just shy of 15,000, easily the smallest in the American Hockey League
They just got or are getting a new 'state of the art' training facility as well.

How many people live within an hour commute of it? NY isn't a huge state

Keeps the possibility of a the flaming A.. I always suspected Abbotsford shyed away from that because they were trying to not look like a flames farm team. in Adirondack....... A black jersey with this logo:

Home of Jimmer Fredette!

From wiki:

Quote:
Glens Falls has a tradition of minor league hockey. The highly successful Adirondack Red Wings, four-time Calder Cup champions of the American Hockey League, played in the city from 1979 to 1999. When the parent Detroit Red Wings folded the franchise, it was replaced by the Adirondack IceHawks of the United Hockey League, which was renamed "Frostbite" in 2004 and folded in 2006. Since 2009, the city has been the home of the Adirondack Phantoms of the AHL, the principal farm team of the Philadelphia Flyers.

They are paying for the arena to sit empty now, hard to imagine a deal worse than that.

The Phantoms averaged 4192 last season. The Heat only averaged 3007 and I don't know if that isn't inflated. As far as attendance goes Glen Falls should be fine. The problem that I understand is it's far away from the nearest airport.

I like it just from a travel perspective. The amount of travel the Heat have to deal with has to be a huge disadvantage.

Yep...
Glens Falls - Albany - Chicago/Minny/Toronto - Calgary or elsewhere...

No quick call ups from there.
