Default Any weekly indoor ball hockey on Sundays?

As the title suggests, anyone know of any weekly indoor ball hockey happening in Calgary or Okotoks?

The further south the better, as I live in Okotoks, but I'm willing to drive wherever if it's a good group and you play for a decent length of time.

Sundays are typically my best chance, as I travel most of the week for work.

Thanks in advance!

CSSC and GHL both have Sunday leagues I believe.

Same with IBHL. They play at West Island College (off of Blackfoot Tr. and Glenmore).

I think Steve is looking for something that hr diesnt have to pay. Besides those leagues usually are only 8 games max not including playoffs. I've played ibhl and cssc before., plus its only an hr long, not worth it for him.

Yeah, not necessarily looking for league play, just somewhat competitive drop in. Don't mind paying a reasonable fee, but definitely needs to last a couple hours each night.

Maybe I should start one in Okotoks.

Bump

Myself and a few friends are looking for some weekly ball hockey. We prefer indoor but we're craving to play so we'll take anything.

We used to play with Scorponok, StrykerSteve, t0rrent98, among others at a Chinese Alliance Church which was a blast every week due to the great people with a similar skill level to us and a good size gym. We're hoping to find something similar - good people and a good gym.

Does anyone know if the weekly outdoor hockey hosted by AC is going to be starting up soon?

I'm also open to a league but my struggle is finding a gym that isn't too small or too big.

Those Sunday games aren't happening anymore? I was wondering why Wayne wasn't texting me anymore. I just figured I was no longer invited. Lol

Wayne told me they didn't have many people showing up towards the end so they stopped. I think the gym is under construction so I don't know if they plan on starting it up again anytime soon.

I'd like to, our biggest issue is goalies. We usually have 5-8 interest guys but can rarely find a goalie willing to come.

I'll strap on pads, my biggest issue is balancing super leagues and baseball in the summer. I'll try and come out a couple times.

My friends and I try to go to the beddington rink every weekend, usually just 3-5 of us, always 1 goalie. Seems like a dead zone lately so if you guys are in the NW we'd love to join

The church is being renovated and the gym is likely going to become smaller after the renovations. I'm not sure if the quality of hockey will still be the same afterwards if that's the case. As far as I know, the plan involves reducing the size of the gym by 20-30 feet (first pillar from the inner door).

We had a few issues with goalies as well before it fizzled out although in the end getting enough guys to play seemed to be the bigger issue. Mike, Steve, Wayne and I had a chat near the end. Once the renovations are over, we will ask the church to see if it's still ok to play floor on Sundays. If we are allowed, we will have to evaluate whether the change in size of the gym will be a problem (Although we are optimistic there's a workable solution).

No idea on ETA, sorry. But if there's hope of reviving it, I'll get Wayne to send out a message.

On a side note, if something casual starts happening for hockey on the weekend (North ish), starting around summer, I might be interested too. I can play goal... but I play a goal style similar to a goalie from the 1970s which means I'm just a defenseman in goalie gear.

We stopped around October/November last year a few weeks before construction was supposed to start IIRC.

The ones whom are usually in charge like Mike and Al are all married and don't come out anymore. Along with having no goalies or that many players its been dead.

Through I have a friend who started up a casual co-ed Ball Hockey Drop in on Fridays at West Hillhurst and its pretty competitive only bad thing I find is that you have to pay $10. Its a first come first Serve kind of thing because he sets it at a max of 20 players. If anybody is interested I'll send you a facebook link.

What time do they usually start? Also how long do they play?

7:50pm-10pm so its basically 2 hrs long but if the goalies and players come before that it starts a bit earlier if nothing is going on before hand. Also have to bring a black and white shirt.
