“I'm not getting mocked, but I hear about it every day,” said Monahan, who follows the account and does have his own (@Monahan20).

“I think it was funny at the start, but now it's kinda getting old or getting a little annoying. Other than that, it's fine.”

To date, the Flames have monitored the account, and are thankful what's been said hasn't been filled with profanities or tales of questionable or illegal activities, as the case with some accounts for celebrities.

Then again, a theory that's made the rounds in the Saddledome is that somebody with the team is behind it.

But boring?

Those around the Calgary Flames rookie forward can argue that description.

“It's just a face for you guys,” stated Jiri Hudler, who opened his home to the club's young star for a while this season. “In the room, he's fun to be around.

“Sometimes he's shy, but as soon as you get to know him more, he's pretty funny. At least he tries to be.”

It's been a while since the 'F' word was overheard at the Saddledome.

No, no, not the cuss word. That particular term isn't going out of style in professional sports anytime soon. The 'F' word I'm referring to is the one Calgary Flames head coach Bob Hartley used after Thursday's practice to sum up the rise of rookie centre Sean Monahan.

Mony is going to be a franchise player for us," Hartley said. "That's what I see in him, his demeanour. He's not flashy, but he's effective. There's no smoke, there's substance."

No pressure, young fella.

The Flames brain-trust is trying to keep expectations in check for the 19-year-old middle-man, but he keeps thrusting himself into the spotlight.

Thanks to his first-period marker in Wednesday's 3-2 victory over the Phoenix Coyotes, Monahan now leads the Flames with 14 goals so far this winter.

Agreed, but that wasn't even the most boring quote in the article. "I thought it was someone on the team, but now I don't think it is" was my personal favorite.
