Flames Best Flames moment of the 2013/14 season

An offshoot of yesterday’s thread (Biggest surprise of the 2013/14 season) – what is your best and/or most memorable moment of the season (after 79 games)?

A sampling:

1) Gio’s last second goal to tie it against the Blues (slapshot one-timer)
2) Brodie’s last minute goal to win it against the Kings
3) Russell’s OT goal to steal one against the Blackhawks
4) Monahan’s back to back goals early in the season against MTL and NJ(hey, this kid can play!)
5) Stajan’s penalty shot goal against the Oilers (“That one’s for the little guy”)
6) Berra’s ridiculous skate save to win the shootout against the Predators

And just for fun:

7) Tortorella losing his mind – on the bench and between the dressing rooms – after being trolled by Hartley
8) Dallas Eakins going full Oiler (and you never go full Oiler) upon being soaked by Taylor Hall

Honourable mentions – McGrattan’s “snipe” from the red line on Eddie Lack, and McGrattan and Galliardi (EDIT: Bouma) doing the Cowboy Sumo-bomb on Stajan during After Hours

Torts losing it.
7-2 and 8-1 thrashings of Anaheim and Edmonton.
Boring Sean Monahan.

(Also was McGrattan and Bouma not Galiardi btw)

Yeah, five years down the road the only moment we'll all remember from this season is Torts losing it. Definitely the best of the year.

So many great moments this year!

1. Beat St. Louis in overtime! What a game!
2. The Edmonton Massacre, 8-1!
3. Hartley telling Torts to "@#$@ off!"

The best save I've seen from a Flames goalie in quite some time. If I recall correctly though, in typical Berra fashion, he went on to let in a softy or 2 and I blamed the loss that night on him!

Definitely Matt Stajan dedicating his penalty shot goal to his son.

Vancouver Brawl
St.Louis Christmas Victory
Edmonton Massacre
Stajan's Finger Point

Mostly though, watching Games with Chalms04.

Has to be Matt Stajan. All of us were expecting him to be done for the season to cope with his loss, but he comes back to play hockey.

Really don't see how he isn't considered for the Bill Masterson.

My personal favourite was the late goal against NJ with Sven finding Monahan in front to win the game. It felt like a glimpse into the future.

The 5-2 win over Washington at home stands out.

Only because that was my first live game.

I'll add the Monahan 2 goal game to beat the Oilers in overtime in March. It was awesome to see him get his Oiler-crushing career started early!

for me it would definitely be the line brawl with the canucks - mostly becuz i'm constantly surrounded by canuck 'fans' (i use that term very generously). it was just soooo much fun to bug them about that. i think what made it even better was when hartley started the 4th line a few games later against the flyers and absolutely nothing happened.

then i was able to bug canucks fans with, "did you see what happened with the flyers and flames the other night.... hartley started the game with the 4th line again - just like in vancouver - but the flyers had their top line out there.... you know what happened..... absolutely NOTHING! do you still honestly believe that the 4th line would have gooned the sisters?? stupid canucks!"

bugging canuck 'fans'.... it just NEVER gets old!

Best? Either Stajan's penalty shot goal or the 8-1 game over Edmonton.

Most memorable? Line brawl / Torts losing his mind.

the fact that there are so many awesome memories in what was expected to be a wasted season is truly amazing

I would have to go with:

1) Torts trolling
2) the Edmonton massacre
3) Russell's OT winner - I knew at that point that this season was going to be much better than expected

I'm kind of hoping it's Gaudreau's first game.

Otherwise I most enjoyed the circus up north. I don't think I've ever listened to this much Edmonton radio before.

The comeback win against St. Louis was a great game live. People love the team so much and to come back late against a top team in the league with the captain doing it was incredibly exciting. I took my nephew to that game and he isn't a Flames fan but he was jumping up and down and I could see him start to appreciate them. Cool to see.
