With my other acquisitions on defense, I was able to part with Johns and Miller in this deal. Getting a mid/lowish end-starter, for a good backup, + 2 semi decent prospects is fine by me.

It was the only time that the price tags weren't ridiculous. Bryzer shouldn't be much more expensive than Harding would've been once he's re-signed and there's a lot less question marks on either him or Elliott than there was on Harding (MS), so I should be more easily able to move one of them + something for a better goalie in the offseason.

I am a cheap SOB when it comes to assets that aren't stable and goalies are the most unstable of unstable assets unless you have one of the very top guys like Lundqvist and you're not getting one of those unless you have at least a nearly top end guy yourself to start with.
