This is a great prime lens for any Nikon mount dSLR (d40, d60, d80, d90, d3000, d5000, d7000).
30mm is a better (closer, wider) focal length for general use than 50mm primes because of the 1.3x crop factor inherent in these cameras.

Works great, used it as the main lens on the D7100 I just sold. Fast and quiet, no dust problems, awesome low light capabilities and creamy bokeh!
