Should the Flames take a flyer on Mitch Holmberg?
Right Wing -- shoots R
20 years old
Height 5.10 -- Weight 175
Undrafted 20-yr old RW from the Spokane Chiefs, currently leading the WHL in scoring, has gotten progressively stronger every year in the league and is on a torrid pace this season.
The late bloomer is on pace for 150+ points in 72 games and could be the first WHL player in 15 years to score 70 goals.
With Calgary's subpar RW prospect depth, anyone else think this kid would be worth looking into?

I haven't slept for ten days, because that would be too long.
My fake plants died because I did not pretend to water them.
I saw this wino, he was eating grapes. I was like, "Dude, you have to wait"
Oh wait..you mean Mitch Holmberg?

Didn't Byron Ritchie once put up 150 points in the WHL?
20-year olds demolish that league. Investigate him by all means, but there is a reason 20-year old seasons are not particularly valued by scouts.

No. 20 year olds should be putting those numbers up in the WHL.

I would definitely offer him an invite to the prospect camp. That's about it.

Never hurts to give anyone a shot. Bryan Cameron suffered from Ryan Howse disease though.
RW is a sore spot for Calgary at the moment so picking up a bunch of crap to throw at the wall and seeing if any sticks is never a terrible idea. Even if it was an AHL contract to begin with.

There's guys that do this every year in the W, O and Q, maybe not quite to this extent, but he'll likely cool off too.
Of course worth a shot, why not? But they rarely, if ever, turn out.
