Default Clubs or lounges for 30s crowd in Calgary

Looking for suggestions for a club or lounge with a dance floor that has a bit of an older crowd. Downtown-ish or sw.

Definitely the Trop. Live bands (usually some kind of rock cover band) and if you don't like loud music you can sit further away and not be bothered by it.

It gets busy, and there are loads of cougars. My ex and her counterparts all hang out there (35+) and enjoy preying on the weak every Friday night.

Wasn't Crazy Horse a place like this back in the day?

Clubs:
Standard - newly opened. Over 25 on Friday and Saturday. From my understanding this is strictly enforced as well. I was there last weekend. Everyone there was late 20s, early 30s. It's a pretty cool place with multiple rooms playing different types of music. Kind of reminiscent of the old Mynt.
Black Betty - No age restriction, but everyone there seems to be in the same age group as Standard. It's a bit junky there, but it's an option nonetheless.

Lounges:
Calgary severely lacks with lounges. This beer hall trend has pretty much killed the lounge as we know it. With that said, if I want to go to a place for an interesting cocktail made by an expert bartender, my go to places are Candela and Ox & Angela (lounge side). Also, National on 10th has a pretty cool lounge upstairs called the Bourbon Room.

Chicken on the Way jokes aside...

... I think Calgary lacks a high-end (semi-formal) jazz and swing music bar, with a dance floor, catered to people in their late 20's / 30's. This facility can also double as a piano bar / place for stand-up comedy. Doesn't need to be that big, either.

I was at a place like this in New York recently, and it was off the hook with young people. So much fun; it was amazing.

Do you recall the name of this place?

They had a place like that before didn't they? A piano bar? Calgary just doesn't have the population to allow esoteric places like this to last.

Well, more 'dance' options, and strictly a focus on jazz and swing; more encouragement of social interaction as well. I've bene to Beatniq's and in some ways, it would be similar, but in other ways, no.

It's just a new concept I've been thinking about recently that would be cool here.

Some of the best lounges I've been to around the world have been attached to higher-end hotels.

Calgary doesn't really seem to have much of that scene though (perhaps Le Germaine?). That's one thing that is definitely missing from this town...low-key, sans-hype, but high-quality places to just have a nice drink and maybe listen to some guy play some standards on a piano.

I don't, but it was around the area of 9th Ave and 40 - 50th Streets, I think? Somewhere there.

The popular thing in San Francisco are restaurants that remove all the tables around 10:00 pm, opening up the room for DJs and dancing.

Yes! That was it. Tons of fun.

My idea is more for a hybrid of something like that, combined with a jazz / piano bar / social gathering environment. Not beer hall themed, not sit down themed, something that is classy, different and still tons of fun to go to.

Hmm, I know Cucina has a Friday night DJ, but I haven't been yet. Not sure if they do what you are saying, or if they keep the tables.

EDIT: To clarify that us Cinquecento Cucina in Inglewood

It looks like an interesting spot, thanks for the heads up!

Many places in town remove some tables for a dance floor. Craft and Shark Club both do this.
