I fell asleep with the TV on last night and the podium woke me up.

Good for Mercedes and Hamilton

Great race by Mercedes. Second race in a row that they've been way ahead.

Things were definitely a lot smoother than Australia, but I feel terrible for Ricciardo. One DQ and a retirement from a rough pit. Brutal!

The Sochi race goes right through the main Olympic complex.

Missed both races so far. Seems like I catch less and less of F1 each year.
Still play the video game though.

I watched my first ever live GP in 2006 in Bahrain. That got me hooked to the sport.

I've got F1 2013 for the PS3, crazy difficult!

Having a PVR certainly makes catching races easy, I don't know if I'd watch much if I was up at 2AM doing so.

Really great sport though. This season has been especially interesting just with all the rule and design changes. Watching the drivers kind of "re-learn" has been great.

Sounds like Red Bull thinks they have a case against Ricciardo's DQ:

http://en.espnf1.com/malaysia/motors...ry/151807.html

Basically saying they used their backup system because the main one was failing, but FIA seems pretty convinced they should've just used the sensors.

Regardless, Red Bull needs to fix the fuel sensor. Two races in a row something has been wrong with it.

I don't understand it, if the fia is worried about fuel economy they should race prius's.

I think in the long run you're not even going to notice the difference. It's a hassle right now because everyone is adapting to it, but eventually all the teams are going to have a handle on it and it's really not going to be as apparent.

It adds a layer of technicality and precision to the race, but I think the biggest worry of it harming actual competition between two drivers late in the stretch hasn't really happened (yet).

We'll get an even better idea once the qualifying goes down later on today, but it looks like another Mercedes podium is likely, if not two. Williams also looked REALLY good during practice (along with the last couple races) so it wouldn't surprise me at all if they podium.

Excellent race in Bahrain. A huge number of excellent battles, especially between the Mercedes drivers who again led the pack by a huge margin.

Good race today between Hamilton and Rosberg

Ferrari has had a bad start to the season.

Ferrari has been really poor, you're right. I don't even understand why their cars are so below standard.

Red Bull also seems to be having it's problems, and Ricciardo has no luck at all. He likely could've podium'd today is he hadn't received the 10 spot penalty after qualifying in 3rd.

I love seeing those Italian pasta rockets fail.

It is good for a change to see a new team dominate after the recent years domination of Red Bull and Ferrari.

Force India has been impressive with their results, when you compare them to the other bigger budget teams.

It is good to see teams have two drivers duke it out. Ferrari and Red Bull both have top tier drivers. If they can improve their cars through the season, it would be great to see the drivers compete based on their skills and not just depend on the prowess of their engines.
Seeing the battle between Hamilton and Rosberg shows what F1 can be if teams have a somewhat more equal footing.

Good little article on why Mercedes is so much better this year, and it looks like it may continue for quite some time:

Ummmm remember 2012? Seven different winners from five different teams in the first seven races?

F1 is not a spec series. You will never have teams on an equal footing.

Pretty much every year they change the formula, someone nails it. This year it's the works Mercedes team.
