Max Reinhart assigned to Abbotsford
Good for the Heat, but little surprised it wasn't Hanowski.

Would have liked it to be Hanowski instead. Hasn't looked good at all on this callup.

It's my understanding that Hanowski would have been sent down first as he is only there on an emergency basis and if the player he was replacing returns from injury, he would be sent down. I thought he was called up for Westgarth, and as he's returning tonight he would be sent down.

In your sig, he looks like a bad version of Ryan Smyth. He's gonna need to fix that!

In the games I saw, he bobbled passes a lot and fell a lot. He did make some nice interceptions but overall I wasn't amazed by him. That said, I can't profess to watching all his playing time or paying that much attention to him. His play just didn't warrant it. I'm fine with him going back to the AHL. Best of luck to him there.

Wonder if they are throwing a bit of a bone to Abbotsford.
Hanowski vs Reinhart on the 4th line in Calgary is a minimal difference.
Having Reinhart back is a bigger boost for Abby though.

If the rules haven't changed since the Sven Call up from the WHL. than Hanowski being an emergency recall, there needs to be 4 regular call-ups still with the team for the emergency call up to remain. Wotherspoon, Granlund, Ortio, Byron, not sure if McDonald counts?

If I remember correctly I don't think Hanowski was an emergency call up... I think he and MacDonald were called up after the trade deadline because of the two trades. They are our two call-ups that have been used so far...
The rest of the youngsters were called up before the deadline or were called up on an emergency basis..

Maybe Abby needs a decent forward down there, and Reinhart is the guy.

I just went back to look and my mistake, Wotherspoon is our emergency call-up and Hanowski is 1/4.

If it's a question of development and getting quality ice-time, then I get it... but I don't think being demoted because he is more useful to the Heat than Hanowski, is a great reason. I'd be a little upset if I was demoted for being "too good".

The MacDonald call up happened before the deadline so he doesn't count as one of the four call ups.

Well being that the Heat are a top contending team that has slid drastically since all of these call-ups and icing 3 defencemen as forwards, I think it's a perfectly valid reason to send him down to the Heat.
The Heat need to be competitive as well and right now, they are really struggling.

As Burke has said, scorers come up for scorers and grinders come up for grinders. Reinhart is playing a scorers role so he has to go back now that Glencross, scorer, is back.
