Why would Phaneuf even make that hit there? Van Reimsdyk has Marleau on the back check all you have to do is continue taking away the middle of ice pass. Just wait it out Marleau choice becomes dump. Then go and retrieve puck.
It could only end in two scenes. He clips Marleau with his head down and he is visiting Shanny in the morning. He clips his own guy. No need to make that hit at the red line at all.
