Draft picks for 2014.
Just wondering if someone knows how many picks in each round the Flames have following deadline day for the 2014 draft?

I'd like to know for sure too,
I think Flames have
1st- Flames
2nd- Flames, Aves
3rd-Flames, Pens
4th- no (Colborne)
5th-no (Russel)
6th- Ducks, not their own (Dallas)
7th-Flames
approximately picks 5, 35,55,65,85 who cares , who cares

Yes I believe that is correct:
46 contracts, with 4 currently sliding (Sieloff, Poirier, Klimchuk and Kanzig)

Five picks in the first three rounds is nice. I'm sure Burke will do something at the draft to get more.

Look like 46
minus Kanzig, Klimchuk, Poirier. So 43 as Devo said.
Derek Smith, Ben Street, Chris Breen and Blair Jones likely only come back on AHL deal if they come back here.
MacDonald, Westgrath, Cammi, Butler being the other UFAs on the main roster. I can only see Westgarth and Butler coming back.
Few prospects to re-sign.

This is a pretty cool site.
http://www.prosportstransactions.com...ure/Flames.htm
For a good time, read up on Buffalo's upcomming draft.
2014 - 3 (but likely 2) first rounders, and 6(!!) second round picks.
2015 - And then, 2 (likely 3) first rounders and 4 second round picks next season.
So in the span of 2 draft, they will have 15 (!!) picks in the top 2 rounds. 26 total picks in 2 drafts. Unbelievable. Combined with their future depth on D, Buffalo is going to come out guns blazing from their rebuild.

I wonder if Buffalo wouldn't be open to splurging a little bit on trading their 1st's up to get quality rather than quantity.

huh?
I see three 2nds in 2014 - the Jets pick, the Wild pick and the Sabres pick. Then two 2nds in 2015 - the Isles pick and the Sabres pick.

I'm thinking he'll package some of those extra picks together to move from 5th to first and grab Ekblad.

I think if Burke does anything with them it will be move one/some of them to get some help now or move up.

Ah I see I was reading the table wrong. Confusing layout...
Either way, the Sabres look to be rebuilding the right way.

Man, heading into the draft with our own second round pick... When was the last time we actually picked a player with one of those? Wahl?

No picks in round 4 or 5? What a total mismanagement. I thought this is a rebuild. Should have traded Cammalleri, Butler and Hudler to recoup those picks. Completely unacceptable. Jay Feaster needs to be fired.
