- return for Berra was excellent
- return for Stempniak was good
- disappointed he didn't move Cammalleri and Butler
- cleared 2 roster spots for college kids
I give him a B- as well.

Swindled the Avs, about right on Stempy, criminal asset mismanagement on Cammalleri (so pretty much status quo for this organization)

Stempniak - Went for what was expected
Berra - Went for more then was expected
Cammalleri - Didn't settle for a bad return and is currently taking about an extension
Butler - He has been fine this year, but I wish we could of got a middle round pick for him.

How? We don't know that at all. Id rather have Cammy re-signed then him traded for a bad return. Even if he doesn't re-sign I like what Burke said about not buckling to other teams demands and sticking to your guns.

I'm going to go with incomplete with positives.
If the Flames sign a couple of college guys like Carey/Van Reimsdyk/Oksanen etc because of the open contract spots, that's good, a bonus.
If the Flames resign Cammalleri, that makes things a bit better.
For the moves that were made A+
Just need to see how many points get deducted from the questions that are still outstanding.

I'd go with a average B.
Stempniak - got fair market value
Berra - a lot more than expected, but I don't know anything about evaluating goaltender potential. I thought we'd just let him leave as a UFA at the end of the season and he'd go back to Europe. A 2nd is a nice surprise
Butler - wish we got something for him, but no biggie
Cammalleri - obviously the hot topic. Obviously the market was set by Vanek/Moulson, obviously the return for them was junk and the offers from Cammalleri were junk, so he didn't take it.

Hard to grade the cammalleri and butler non trades without knowing how far apart they are in contract negotiations

Was headed towards an F, but he redeemed himself in a BIG way and gets a B from me.
Gaudreau, Arnold and Agostino will now get bigger roles with the Heat if they head up sooner than later. At least until the Flames' season is done. I like that too.

Berra = A++ Outstanding Achievement in the field of Excellence.
Stempniak = Solid B.
Cammalleri = F. I understand he was close, and other teams might have screwed it up, but at the end of the day the result wasn't there.
Overall = B-

You're right that we don't know the return but if he isn't resigning, that's like cutting off your nose to spite your face, literally any return is better.
Sticking to your guns and losing a 4th or 3rd round pick, however little value that has, is poor asset management, something this franchise is becoming synonymous with.
Sticking to your guns, going with your gut and other decisions based on emotion and hard headedness instead of cold hard and logical asset maximization are the reasons this franchise is probably 3 years behind in the rebuild cycle from where they should be.

I think the B- rating is right there. Maybe a C+.
Burke almost had a 3 way trade done, but one team didn't follow through from what I've seen.
Pretty disappointing we didn't move Cammy, but Burke made up for it with the Berra and Stempniak trade. I was happy as long as he traded either Cammy or Stempy, would have been stupid to keep them both on the roster.
Burke opened up a couple of roster spots. I think it was an okay day.

I'd give him either a strong C or a B. I think he should have just taken something for Cammy but that's because I don't want him on the team any more.
In the end, I trust him to do what's best. I'm just disappointed more didn't happen

I'd say C
Got what he should have for Stempniak
Got more than he should have for Berra (but that trade seemed to have just fallen into his lap)
Got nothing for Cammalleri
Got nothing for Butler
Made no "hockey trades"
Got no prospects or decent young players
We still have huge holes in our system

I'd probably give a C+ overall because our biggest fish UFA stayed, but in terms of return for traded pieces I'd say a B+. Stempniak's return was "ok" and Berra's was obviously awesome.

The Berra deal saved it from being an F.
It would have been a B but then he mentioned he might extend Butler, which necessitated the much lower grade.

Cammy deal needed to get done, but I think the reasons for that we more than excuses.
Overall B-, the minus is for not getting rid of Butler.
