Default Places to run

So, I will be down in southern Alberta this weekend and am looking for a nice spot for a trail run. Between ten and twenty Kms would be great.
I will be staying twenty minutes east of Okotokes on a farm near Blackie and would prefer not to run on gravel roads or in the ditch if there is a better spot.
I don't mind driving a bit but will be seen as rude if I take off for four hours.

There is the odd trail around Frank Lake, but that is very flat. Also if you can find a decent fishing access along the Highwood or Sheep river there are usually some decent trails along there, but that is generally private property. If you head West of High River there is lots of trails, especially in the Bragg Creek area. A great little place is Brown Lowery Provincial Park, it is about an hour from there but there are some excellent trails that are ~5km loops.

The issue with Blackie east is she's pretty flat all the way to Ontario. Minus the odd river valley/coulee. If the farm you’re staying at has any coulees that would likely be your best bet.

There's no place to run to baby and no place to hide.

I might check out Brown Lowery or possibly Sheep River Park.

I thought the river valleys would be good, but it looks like they are all private access. Someone needs to clear the road allowance down to the river to provide more public access.

The Bragg Creek area is the nicest but that is probably an hour away. Some combination of the trails inthe moose mountain trail run is a good run.

The top part of moose mountain probably still has some snow but the road is open now.

In Calgary, the best run in the city is running the reservoir.

The path along the Elbow is pretty good too.....

I do all my running in Fish Creek Park, it's easily accessible from the south, should be less than 30 minute drive from Okotokes for you.

I made the trek into Sheep River Provincial park. There is some great trails in there. Unfortunately, there is still two feet of snow once you get in there a bit. I managed to line up a pretty good run though and despite the fact that I was solo in K country I was not eaten by a bear.
