Default East Coast Weather Bomb

How many others have been affected? It's starting to switch to freezing rain here.

Some perspective:

About 1:00pm

What was forecast

Everything's closed, playoff game tonight postponed until tomorrow, only emergency vehicles are to be on the road, CTV sent my father in law to the other side of the island to report on how bad the storm was and he is storm stayed (and by result can't file the report, smrt tinkin dere CTV).

Will follow up with after pictures later.

Meh it really isn't that bad, despite what some might think 50cm of snow in a few hours is abnormal for anywhere in this country.

Weather Bomb? Is this an actual term?

Never heard it before.

Still another 15-25cm to go.

Roads are still crap, shovelling sucked (thankfully got the use of a snowblower for the driveway).

And weather bomb apparently is an actual term.

Why is your road so clear? Almost like some sort of machine passed by moving the snow off to the sides of the road.

As Nova Scotia is three hours ahead, I can only surmise that such machines only exist in the future.

Hmm... so it's more effective to clear snow after it falls?

And here we thought scraping dry roads the night before was the way to go.

It was crazy here in Saint John yesterday. I was out plowing about 10:30 last night and not a car on the road. At one point the snow was blowing around so badly I couldn't even see our neighbors house 30 feet away.

Today beautiful and sunny although still very windy.

There are tons of commonly used terms for winter storms.

Snow Squalls
Weather bomb
Snowmageddon
Snowpocalypse
Snow Qaeda / Snine Eleven
etc

My hometown got hammered last night

Wind & Snow for hours.

Someones travel trailer was blown over. Roofs and siding off of houses.

When the pics hit facebook (as we all know they will) I will post a few here.

Radio reported that there are still gusts of 100 km/h going on out on the east coast.

I've never lived by the sea, but winter winds coming off the ocean can't be too much fun.
