What are your monthly housing costs?
I'm just trying to get a handle on some monthly housing costs for future budgeting.
Pretty simple question: What are your monthly housing costs minus mortgage, entertainment and food. IE: Heat, electricity, water/sewer insurance, and is it for a SFH, Condo, Appt...
Etc.
Thanks

3 bdrm townhouse, ~1200sqft plus a developed basement.
Utilities (elec/gas) are in the $80-$160 per month range. I set aside in the neighbourhood of $115 per month to cover it year round.
Insurance is around $300 per year (I work from home so that bumps it up a bit).
Property tax is $170 / mo.
Condo fees are around $420 / mo, which includes water, cable TV, exterior maintenance (new fences, new roofs in the past 6 years), snow removal, electricity for plugging in the cars in the parking lot, etc.
And then there's our interior maintenance costs - for example, in the past 6 years, we've had to replace our furnace, HW heater, dishwasher. Not including the cost of renovations, the maintenance has been probably about $10k over that time, most from the furnace and HW heater replacements.

Monthly
$300 Utilities
$230 Property Tax
$50 Insurance
$140 Internet/Cable/Telephone
$21 Alarm
1800 sqft attached garage home, 2010 built.
My advice: don't ever get an electric water boiler if possible. I think I pay around $50 more per month because of it. It has two elements that use 6000W per element. My monthly electricity usage is 1,100 kwh. I live by myself, hardly ever cook at home, and don't come home until 8:00pm at night.

Thanks everybody. The odd large discrepancies in insurance is kind of interesting.
I've heard of everything from next to nothing when combined with other insurance, to 1200 a year.

Depends on coverage too, some people don't have enough to cover upgrades, others have riders to cover their phones or jewelry.

Yeah it pretty much depends on when you renew. Mine just went up 90%, but for a neighbour, his went up 6 months ago alread. After the flooding and whatnot everybody's going to get hit eventually.
Anyway, single house/attached garage:
Prop tax: 250
Elec: 100
Gas: 60
Water: 50
Ins: 80
telcom: 200

Our insurance costs are somewhat cheaper because we combine with auto and our rental. If it was just on its own it would likely be higher. Also depends on coverage (among other things). You can get virtually everything covered or just basic
